Hello Fitbits,

I have a Charge 2 and I am so happy about it 🙂

Since I will be without internet connection for some days now, here's my question: right now, my Charge won't sync without mobile data on my iPhone. Bluetooth is on...

Is there really no way sync without mobile data?

Thanks!

There is no way to sync any of the trackers without an internet connection. However, all trackers will store 7 days of minute by minute detail and another 23 days of summary detail between syncs should you be without an internet connection for any period of time.

The reason for this is syncs for an account can happen over multiple devices such as a tablet, cell phone, desktop, etc. In addition, you may have more than one tracker in use and attached to your account. Before a new sync is allowed, the app needs to connect to the Fitbit servers to update that app with any other syncs/trackers that may have occurred since the last sync with that app/device before it will alllow new data to sync (and upload).

Wow, thanks for this fast reply!

Makes a ton of sense, I guess. Well, I guess I have to live without the app for the next weeks.

Have a great day!

Your tracker will remember 7 days of detail data and another 23 days of daily totals.

Hello @SunsetRunner and welcome aboard the Community!

I couldn't have put it better than @SunsetRunner and @Rich_Laue. Just take into account that besides the data being stored you can also sync from any compatible device with the app. So you can always ask to sync from a friends device. Just log in to your account and then manually sync the device, then log out and this way your data will be stored on your account.

Let me know if you need any help!

See you soon!

Here is the problem.  with off-the-grid hiking (I do 10-15 days) and no internet, I start losing really high numbers and important data (heart rate, etc).

Given what people use this for--to track activity--should be a way to at least store the data on the phone until back on internet.

(My map apps have offline feature for this very reason)

This has got to be the lamest excuse as justification for fitbit to collect data. Not everyone has internet coverage all the time. I can be without mobile phone coverage for weeks at at time. My phone has more than enough storage to cope with many years of data. I have no intention of syncing across devices so should be able to store locally. Looks like I will have to return my FB to place of purchase. If I can't see what has been happening without an internet connection, it is useless to me.

As for collecting data, even if the user was able to do a temparary sync to the phone .the data at sometime would still be needed to be sent to Fitbit,

The advantage is with the data on fitbit your data is accesable from any device that you night want to. You also would not want to loose your history any time the phone is changed.

I understand some (most??) would want to do this, but what about those that don't want to or can't?? People should be given a choice. In it's current form, fitbit and the app are not fit for purpose without an internet connection. This very important fact is not disclosed in any of the advertising material, which is misleading.

VERY weak. Alltrails and others have offline mode for hiking. “the advantage is data is available anywhere”??? No, not available at all if you don’t have internet, because it quits caching data after a week.

The advantage of SYNCING is that you have data everywhere. The advantage of RECORDING is you don’t have to be on internet all time—it will sync later.

You guys don’t have this capability…but don’t try to sell it as a “feature”. That is, as another poster has said, lame.

also if you are changing time zones there doesn't appear to be a way of changing the time ? making the watch redundant

@dclonts all Fitbits have a 30 day memory for daily totals. 7 days of detail.

@chianti455 correct changing the time requires a sync.
