'Not enough data available' for Heart Rate when tracking/logging workouts?

Hi, I'm using my charge 2 with my iphone 11, iphone has latest update installed as does the fitbit app yet since 15th march any workout I track or log is not recording any heart rate data and is saying 'not enough heart rate data available'. All other details are present. I have deleted and reinstalled app, removed device and added back etc and still not working. So frustrating!

Same Issue here.  I have an Ionic and an iPhone 11 Pro.  When a workout is automatically detected, I can see 'Time in Heart Rate Zones', 'Heart Rate', 'Calories Burned', and 'Impact on your Day' data, but you don't get a map of your route and some of the other expanded information you get when you manually start a workout.

However, when I manually start a workout, I get the 'Not enough heart rate data available' message when I select 'Heart Zones' on the map of my workout route. What's not really logical to me is that while the data isn't being shown on the Exercise map, I can see my heart rate/zone data on the Heart Rate panel of the Fitbit app (the time series data).  So, the data's there, it's just not being used as overlay data on the Exercise map.

I have the same problem on Android 10. This issue is clearly device and operating system independent.

I've been experiencing exactly the same issue on Versa using the android app. Others are also reporting the same issue on other watches with android and iPhone, so it seems to be across the board. Using auto recognition for exercise works, but if I manually select an exercise via the app and use GPS to track a walk, I get the 'not enough heart rate data available' message. The watch is clearly tracking my heart rate. This was the case prior to the most recent update, and is still happening post update. So bloody frustrating 😤

I have been having the same issue - not enough data message - with my Charge 2. It’s updated. Since FitBit added the bar with Default / Heart Zones / Pace it won’t give me heart rate zones. What is even more frustrating is when I go back to look at walks or hikes from months ago, the data that used to be there is gone and the “not enough data” message comes up.

Ive taken screenshots of my hikes and the heart rate zones and yet now, since this updated feature appeared, the data for previously recorded hikes no longer shows the HR zones.

Not impressed.

Same here on Android 10

same for me with a Versa 2 and Samsung s9.  No idea why this has a strike through it

I think I stumbled across the answer to this by accident. I was having the same issue and it was bugging me. The log an exercise must be started from the Fitbit device and not the phone. Fitbit uses the heart rate sensor that the phone does not have. I think we are going wrong by starting the log exercise through the app, this feature is to log an exercise without your Fitbit.

I have the same issue too! Anyone have any insight on how to resolve? (This is my first time participating in this chat.)

i am also missing heart rate data when using my android to track my exercise.

However, if i don't track with the app and start and end  the walk or run on my fitbit device, all of my fitbit data syncs to the app and i am able to see everything.

This is definitely a glitch that is a result of the most recent update.  i was able to start and stop all of my walks and run on the app previous to the update.

After reading the comments I'm positive this is not a tracker problem. It's got to be a dashboard bug. When they updated the map to show heart rate and pace on the route path they either rushed it through with only the pace section working, or assumed HR would be fine and didn't debug.

Hopefully they fix this soon.

I would love to see that information displayed on the route. It would also be nice to see elevation on the route.

Jdemp has the best answer.i have the charge 2 and tried what he said and it worked.u have to long press the exercise on your phone and let it do its thing till your done .then long press again to stop the tracking and BOOOOM. I finaly got my heart rate stats in all its glory.so thanks again JDEMP for stumbling on that tidbit  accidentally.i previously was logging from my phone.would press the plus symbol across from the running man and press the play button for the exercise i was doing.wrong way... do it from the watch that has the heart rate monitor on it..snd u will get your stats

Thank you! This solved it for me. I have a Versa2 and used my smartphone app to log my hours. Now, I use the Versa to log the hiked and IT connects to the phone for the GPS info and logs the hike into the app, along with the heartrate mapping.

As a programmer, I can see that this could have a pretty simple fix, but this works for me.

Wow fitbit, how can you just drop your customers. This is basic stuff for the fitbit (charge 2) in my case to track excecise including GPS, and heart rate all combined on 1 report for that exercise. Worst is it used to do it.

We need feedback, ASAP. Please.

I am using Android, Pixel 3

Thanks, JDEMP solution does work and its definitely a solution,  but it used to work from the app too.  They had this problem once before and eventually fixed it.  For now this works but it would better if the app on the phone tracked heartrate too..

Hi JDemp

Thanks for your suggestion and it works in part.

When starting from phone you are correct it records the heart rate and sadly then does not record the track / GPS.

I have started it from phone and fitbit and then you have 2 excercises 1 with heart and 1 with track, The frustrating part is that all the data is not combined in 1 log.

At least that is what I am seeing, let me know if I missed something.

It makes sense the suggesting by @JDemp but then if I log with my Fitbit device, I do not get the GPS track even although it is activated.

I'm having the same issue when I use the GPS function with my charge 2 "not enough" heart rate data available"

What do you mean by long pressing the exercise button?
