Not tracking distance correctly

My charge hr doesn't seem to be tracking my distance correctly. I'll meet my 10,000 step goal and it says I've only gone 1/2 a mile. Yes, it's set up to measure by feet/miles.

If you leave the stride length at 0 it will calculate a default of its own based on your height.

Sounds like your stride length is out. The Charge HR can't 'track' distance as such since it has no way of measuring it. What it does is multiply the number of steps by the stride length and estimate a distance that way.

The stride length is either one you've entered directly or is related to the height you've configured for yourself. Check those figures and see if that's the cause of the problem.

Last night I went online and for some reason my height was registered as.8 inches tall. So I changed that and put my stride length as 2.6 feet, I looked up the average stride length. Hopefully that helps

My fitbit is overstating the distance I've walked.  All my information is entered correctly, and I've even calculated my stride by walking a known distance and doing the calculations, but the distance continues to be at least 10-15% too high.

I have been having a hard time getting my distance in miles to measure up to what Map My Walk says I walk or run. I have various routes mapped out on there and would like my Fitbit's miles to be close. I've been messing with my stride length and my running stride length was fairly close, but my walking stride was still off. I decided to read up on how to set my stride length and found a blog that gave directions and a formula for calculating stride length. I did it for both walking and running. I actually even tested it using another formula as well as an online stride length calculator. All three agreed that my walking stride is about 30.2 inches and my running stride is about 39.4 inches. I also tested the formulas on other workouts where I knew I had walked the whole time and it consistantly gave me a walking stride of about 30 inches. I still want to double check some workouts where I ran the whole time to test my running stride since I had my running stride set to 35.5 (and I thought it was usually fairly close when I finished) and I was a bit surprised that it was that far off, but I changed it anyway. I didn't run today since the humidity was so high so I don't know how my miles will match up when I run. However, my walking stride had been set down at 25 inches (and I was thinking of dropping it down to 24 inches or somewhere between those two since it still would say I walked more miles than I actually did). Well, the formula I used said my stride should be 30.2 inches and I couldn't understand how increasing it would make any sense, but I did it just to see what would happen. Today I walked 6.8 miles and my Fitbit Charge HR said I walked 8.78.....two miles more than I actually walked. Ugh! Should I just drop my stride length back down below 25 inches even though I apparently have my stride length figured out correctly and Fitbit doesn't know that? Lol!

@ilovemy2angels Welcome to the Fitbit Community! I recommend following Fitbit's instructions on adjusting your stride length (check @SteveH's post). Also, restart your Charge HR (check steps at @AlejandraFitbit's post). It should work properly after doing that.

@nkotblove I hope you're doing well! Are you still experiencing this issue? Would you mind clarifying what you are having trouble with?

Let me know how it goes! Smiley Happy

Each time I try and track a run, it has not been accurate. It's over a mile less than everyone else's trackers who I'm running with. It also says my speed is 12-min miles, which is insanely slower than I'm running. How do I get this corrected?

Hi

my blaze is also doing the same it’s always been spot on apart from this last week or so . It’s calculating my mile at 15 mins when I always have completed each mile in no more than 10.30 mins and is saying I’m running a mile less than I am . I’ve emailed fit bit do if I get a reply with a saloution I’ll let you know 👍

Does the Blaze use GPS? My distance was very off using the Charge HR2 because it only used steps, which I didn't realize. So I was running MUCH farther than my friends were because I thought theirs were not correct (they were correct).

It doesn't allow you to enter a value of zero.

Don't have a solution. I have the same problem. How did you fix it?

I found if I stay out of the forest it is more accurate. I think it has to
do with my GPS not being able to be located easily in dense brush. Which is
unfortunate for trail running. I just have to go by my stride rather than
location.

It doesn’t allow me to enter 0; says I need to change it. Any ideas??

I need to fix the step count somehow because step counter today says 3.1 miles at 9pm, but my 6pm run alone was 4.13 miles....
