Does anyone know why this could be happening? For the past few months, my resting heart rate has consistently been between 69-72. Now for some reason it is increasing daily, and I have not changed my routine at all. (I workout 4-5 times per week; average 13-14,000 steps per day) Typically your resting heart rate is supposed to decrease when you're more active. I know my Fitbit is not always going to be 100% accurate for measuring things like this, but I'm still curious. Any thoughts?

I wonder if anyone from Fitbit is actually listening to this conversation? They seem to have a software problem..

Hello everyone!
I've seen that you have shared your experiences particularly with the resting heart rate data, thank you for that. I'd like to provide a general response and troubleshooting to cover everything mentioned, if I'm missing something feel free to post it here.
Before considering other troubleshoots, keep in mind that the average resting heart rate is 60-80 beats per minute, but it’s usually lower for physically fit people. Also, for best accuracy it is recommended wearing your device to sleep. Remember that we use your heart rate data from when you’re awake and asleep to estimate your resting heart rate.
Also if you haven't already done so I'd also like to share this article that has been useful for other users to improve the heart rate's accuracy. For the majority of cases, it is improved by following the steps mentioned and some other recommendations (wearing the tracker an inch or two higher during that exercise and moving his/her wrist vigorously and non-rhythmically).
I hope you find this helpful!

I’m currently seeing a similar increase following a full hip replacement just over two weeks ago. Pre op my resting heart rate was consistently around the low 60’s. It’s now climbed to the high 70’s. I’m off all pain killers now but am still self injecting Fragmin to reduce the chances of blood clots. Anybody any idea what’s happening? I have just turned 60 but have been very active all my life as a Fell runner and cyclist.

I have worn my Fitbit for more than 2 years with average resting heart rate at 45bpm. I work out 5-6 times per week and commute to work on a bike. I have not changed my routine what so ever, but in the last week of Jan/2017 my resting HR increased to 70 beats per minute? with everyone having the same issue I am wondering what programmatic change Fitbit made to the software?

I'm sure my Fitbit is reading the HR accurately and the average resting HR only has increased since January. It now records a higher average Resting HR but measured manually it is not increased any. I'm still of the belief that one of the updates has changed a setting in how the fitbit algorithm works for getting a resting HR. I believe this as I've had the Fitbit on steady for close to a year now. If I take my Resting HR the way I used to take it prior to owning a fitbit it has not changed and the Fitbit HR graph even verifies this for me. If i take my HR within 10 minutes of waking 3 times before becoming too active and then average it over a week I will be the same Resting HR on average as historically. But fitbit has my Heart rate about 4 to7 beats higher than this and about 7 higher than it measured me previously. As an example this morning my sleep monitor portion shows I woke at 5:45. My HR between 5:45 am and 6:00 am was 50 to 52. My fitbit says my resting HR is 56 today.. that's 6 higher than taking the traditional way of finding a resting HR would say for today. I don't really mind that it measures differently since it is consistent still, just consistent at a higher rate than I measure manually.

I bet the OP was pregnant. She hasn't come back to update us... but being someone who is actively trying to conceive, I've seen a lot of RHR graphs that show this kind of increase. Personally, I have noticed large spikes in my RHR when I'm getting sick. Usually, it'll spike before I even know I'm sick. Then -bam- super cold. It's also normal for your RHR to spike when you're healing from an injury or dealing with an infection; even something as simple as a swollen piercing.

I came across this post last week trying to work out why my resting RHR had gone up from avg. 63-64 to 72-75 in the space of a few days
The increase started from the Tuesday, I was sick at the weekend with chest pains, on Monday I went to hospital, was admitted, abnormal ECG and signs of heart stress - diagnosed with myopericarditis. Home now and RHR back to normal!
So if you do notice RHR increase, and experience any odd symptoms, head to the doctor sooner rather than later!
72 peak was Friday

I’ve been using fitbit for a couple of months now averaging 56-59. I noticed my heart rate increases during weeks I do less cardio. I’ve been doing cardio runs 10km/hr for 5 km and strength training after - my average heart rate was 56-59. However lately I have been trying interval training for 20mins - 11.8km/h for 45s and 9km/h for 30s and after that same strength training. However after trying this my average heart rate has gone up to 60 and today it is 63. Any idea what’s going on? I thought interval training is supposed to improve heart rate

i just stumbled across this thread. I'm having similar issues! My RHR has gone from 59bpm all the way up to 72bpm in the matter of a month!
I have had the Charge HR for coming up on 2 years now. Anyone have an idea what could be happening?

I’m glad it’s not just me. I’m exceeding more and have lost 21lbs in 6 weeks. I feel great but my resting HR has climbed from 58 to 70. I don’t get it.
