So, my Fitbit arrived today and I did all the setup stuff. I am sitting in a rocking chair watching movies, waiting for laundry, etc. The Fitbit is counting the rocking as steps. Is there a way to adjust the device? Or a way to adjust the database?

So, after checking in with the Help Support on Twitter, I have to log into my dashboard and enter a false activity like driving to cover the time period for my rocking chair fun. Or maybe take off the Fitbit when I’m rocking.

@MAMiller Welcome to the Fitbit Community! It's great to have you here! Remember that your tracker is a motion sensor and will translate said motion to steps so if it is detection a swinging movement (like the one your arm does while walking) it will think you are actually walking except this movement is caused by rocking on your chair. You can try wearing your tracker on your non dominant hand but select that same hand as dominant on your tracker's settings to make it less sensitive to movement. Still I think steps will be counted so you can try negating them by logging a driving activity or removing the tracker like @WendyB suggested.

I can’t believe so many of you don’t want to count the steps accumulated while rocking. I intentionally put my Fitbit on my ankle when I rock to get credit for the steps and just increase my goal for the day.
First and foremost, rocking is relaxing. It releases endorphins in the brain which can improve mood and reduce stress and pain.Using a rocking chair increases blood flow around the body, thus sending more oxygen to the joints, which can help ease the symptoms of arthritis. The slight physical exertion of rocking also helps to build up strength and flexibility in the knees, whilst the act of rocking can help prevent pain signals travelling from the back to the brain. The rocking motion also promotes parent-child bonding, and there is even research to suggest that rocking a child can enhance emotional, social, cognitive and motor development. And for new mothers who have given birth by cesarean section, rocking is said to speed up recovery time. Studies have suggested that mothers who use a rocking chair in the days following a cesarean section walked faster and left hospital a day earlier compared to those who had not used a rocking chair. This is said to also be the case for people recovering from any kind of surgery. If you’re walking to burn calories, using a rocking chair apparently burns 150 calories an hour. Using a rocking chair is a great idea for those who are housebound or unable to exercise regularly. I know it’s not the most physical of exercises but it’s better than nothing and gets the blood flowing. Rocking can even help those who suffer from dementia as it can increase emotional and psychological wellbeing and stimulate the balance mechanism in the inner ear as the body works to balance itself as the chair rocks. I very much want to count my rocking and I don't think that my Versa2 is picking up very much of it. My feet are flat on the floor when I rock and I am using my upper leg muscles to move and with a little bit of involvement from my calves. I'm rehabbing a broken knee. Any suggestions on how I can adjust or locate my Fitbit 2 count more accurately while I am sitting in reading or watching TV? Also I am about to start using a Cubii Jr
