Screen Wake on Charge 3 doesn't work

I have just purchased a charge 3 & the display doesn't  come on when I roll my wrist. I have to tap the charge for the screen to wake up. Is that how it should be. Thanks.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @Mond01949! Additionally to what my friend @N8teGee suggested, I'd recommend restarting your Charge 3 by following these steps:

  • Plug the charging cable into the USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
  • Clip the other end of the charging cable to the port on the back of the tracker. The pins on the charging cable must lock securely with the port.
  • Make sure the button on your tracker is aligned with the button opening on the charging cable. You’ll know the connection is secure when the tracker vibrates and you see a battery icon on your tracker’s display.
  • Press and hold the button on your tracker for 8 seconds. When you see a smile icon and the tracker vibrates, the tracker restarted.
  • Unplug your tracker from the charging cable.

Then, please let's try these steps once again:

  • On your tracker, press and hold the button until the Quick Settings menu appears.
  • Find the Screen Wake option and tap it to turn it off.
  • Sync your tracker to save the changes.

Also, do this on your Fitbit app:

  • From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap or click the Account icon.
  • Tap or click your device image.
  • Find an option to turn off Quick View.
  • Sync your tracker to save the changes

Give this a shot and let me know if the restart and sync steps do the trick!

Press and hold the side button and make sure the screen wake setting is active. It should then come on when you raise/tilt your wrist.

Thanks, it worked just fine. I love the Charge 3! I’ve gone from Alta to Ch2...but this is my favorite so far.

On Fitbit app "Find an option to turn off Quick View." - Where? I followed directions to bring up Charge 3 and I have Wrist, Silent Alarms, Reminders to Move, Main Goal, Exercise Shortcuts and All Day Synch. None of these or any sub menus contain Quick View setting.

Hold the side button until Screen wake and notifications show on the screen. You can toggle screen wake on and off - the light bulb.

This is a temporary solution at best.  This is a bug should be fixed.  You should have to continually reboot your fitbit.  I don't think I ever rebooted my Charge 2.

Updated today now the wake function is permanently disabled . I’ve reset charge 3 using both the 8 second button press and the through the settings tab but no luck. Please advise - V frustrating to need 2 hands to tell the time!!!!

Best Answer

Nope.  There's no light bulb there.  There's a little dialogue box, but I can't tell if the screen wake is on or off.  I can't get the screen wake option to ON!  So maddening.
