I recently bought a new fitbit and wanted to give my brother my fitbit charge 2. Im having trouble setting it up to his phone. How do I set up this used fitbit for him?
Thanks for any information!

It is more important to remove the Charge 2 from your phone, then it is to remove it from your account.
Go to your phones Bluetooth settings and remove the tracker from there.
Now try and connect it to your brothers account. If it still fails then let us know his phone and at what step it failed.
There is another way to do it if you continue to have provlems.

@m.ray194, have you removed the Charge 2 from your acount, by replacing it with the new tracker? When you installed the Fitbit app on his phone, you created a new account for him, correct? Then, if you open the app Account screen on his phone, you should be able to select Set up a Device and then follow the on-screen instructions to add the tracker to his account.

I'm having the same problem. I bought a new Alta HR and gave my old Charge HR to my daughter-in-law. Removed the Charge HR from my account on my phone. Then set up an account on her phone but it would not recognize the Charge HR. I use iPhone and she has a different type of phone, if that matters
Best Answer@Louisewc I'm not sure what the problem is that your having. Same does not describe much. However you do not have to remove the tracker from your account, but as i shared above, you need to remove the tracker from your phone. You need to go to the ph9nes bluetooth and unpair the tracker, failing to do this will keep there ph9ne from finding the tracker if your phone is nearby.
I have the same problem, having lost my old phone my Charge 2 won't connect to my new phone- this should not be marked as solved!
@upthestrandjk sorry., when you say connecting to your new phone, what do you mean?
The steps you want to do is:
Load the Fitbit app.
Log into your Fitbit account.
Grant access to anything the app asks for.
Your setup, notice I never said anything about connecting.
As for marking a solution you need to ask the original poster why they marked it solves. Or since the solution above did not work for you, you did try?, instead of posting in a solved thread you might want to post in a non solved or start a new thread.
i have a similiar problem the windows asks me a 4 digit code and my fitbit screen gives me the menu..
Best AnswerIt still fails and I get an error message 500
Best AnswerYour error 500 message idimost likely related to the IOS app, imI'assuming that it is an iOS device.

My thought would be to use a different device to setup the tracker. Even a friendsfrphone would work. Once connected on your phone you would log into your Fitbit account amdaaccept any permissions requested.

Did you ever get this resolved? I am having the same issue after buying a used charge2. We have exhausted all other troubleshooting steps to no avail.

Best AnswerOne of the ongoing complaints, is that Fitbit does nothing to stop a second user from setting up a stolen or found tracker .
The tracker does not need to be removed from the previous account.
Now if the one giving the tracker is nearby, the tracker needs to be removed from the phones bluetooth menu .you want to remove it from every diviced that is on, that it has been paired to.
After the above is done, it is now a setup issue, and does not relate to the tracker being second hsnd.
We got ours working after 8 days of hassle. Haha. The previous owner did her part by deleting the device. She and I both contacted fitbit and followed all recommended protocol. She ended up deleted her account entirely and it had to be processed. Once it was processed my charge 2 finally worked!
Best AnswerI bought a secondhand charge 2. I have restarted the device. The last time it synced was December 27. I have paired my phone and my pc via bluetooth with the charge 2. It pairs and it gives my the 4 digit code to set up a new device on my account. However it never syncs and it never connects. What the hell do I do now? Any ideas? HELP!!! PLEASE
Please help because I have the same problem and removing it has not solved my problem.
