I have been diagnosed with sleep apnea and use a dental piece to help with this. I am wondering if the Fitbit sleep patterns can help me diagnosis when I am having sleep apnea. The Fitbit records that I am awake from 25 to 35 times at night. Is this a typical number of times awake? Are there any plans for Fitbit to have a device that can detect sleep apnea?

Is there anything published about how many times a night a person typically wakes up? 20, 30, 50 70?
Does Fitbit actually know a person is awake or only knows a person moved or the heart rate changed?
How does Fitbit measure that a person is awake?

Thanks, that is very helpful. I think the sleep information is interesting but not very medically accurate.
