Stairs still not counting correctly

I was hoping the recent firmware update would fix the stair counting on my Charge 3, it hasn't.

My Charge 2 wasn't perfect, it often missed flights, but it would always register _something_.  With my Charge 2, I could go up 6 flights of stairs and sometimes it would only register 3.  It was annoying, but somewhat infrequent, so I just lived with it.  With my Charge 3, I can go up the same 6 flights of stairs and get nothing (my stair counts are what my Charge 2 would have registered).

Before I went to lunch I had done 40 flights of stairs, my Charge 3 said I had only done 23.

Is there a chance this can get fixed?  I can accept the same performance as the older model, but this is a major step backwards.

I'd like to stay in the Fitbit ecosystem, but if this cannot be fixed I will have to return it and move on to something else.

Thanks,

Brian

I have restarted my Charge 3 several times, but it still track stairs that I didn't use.  What's the next step?  I read several complaints, and I see several similar situations, i.e., counting stairs while sleeping (for me, it has been 1 to 3), and counting extra floors (for me, I will walk the three floors in my condo, and it counts anywhere from 3 to 6).  I did read there was an update, but it didn't seem to work???  I have version 9.45 (preceded by28.2000001.4 -- I could have added an extra "0" or 2....).

I upgraded to the charge 3 because of it being swim proof and less bulky.

My daughter has the Versa and it seems to be just as temperamental.

I have finally convinced Fitbit to send me a new charge 3. Hopefully will get it next week.

How did you convince them?

Didn’t think it was going to happen but kept pushing. Actually didn’t think it would happen. I have had emails calls and live chats since I go my charge 3 in November and I always insist they record my concerns. I guess it paid off.

Interesting to see if the new Charge 3 works better than the one it's replacing 🙂

Please do!  My charge 2 won't be in for a week so if your new Charge 3 works better, I might give that a shot.

Trying to reset my charge 3 AGAIN, but it's not accepting the reset now.  Will keep on trying.  I like waling on hills and I would like to trust it to count the elevation correctly, but I don't know anymore ... what's the next step (no pun intended!)?

I did an on line chat and wouldn’t give up until they sent me a new one. But sadly the new one isn’t any better.

I gave up and returned my Charge 3. Horrible customer service at Fitbit.
They still havent responded to my complaint from last week. Found a Charge
2 online and going to buy that instead now.

It would be nice if someone from fitbit ever looked into the Fitbit
community to see what people think. They could gain lots of insights on
their products and customers.

I thought I did, but I assumed everybody does the "right thing" until I'm proven wrong ... 😞

But it would be nice, though, if SOMEONE would reply that "they" are working on the problem and a solution/update is in the works!

It is a shame, that they have not fixed it yet.

Thanks for doin that.
It is really not okay, thy not even acknowledge that there is an issue.
Again, Thank you.

Is there a certain person you are contacting there? If so post link here so others can contact them as well. Let’s get this ball rolling. I think everyone wants their money back and just to move on from this waste.

Stairs are not something that will track accurately ever.  Because what is used to track stairs in the Fitbits is sensitive to wind and changes in air pressure.  I'll get 11 floors in my shower.  If it's a windy day, which it usually is in Oklahoma, I'll get 40 "floors" on my usual run which is fairly flat.

It's not going to be accurate unless you're physically running up exactly 10 feet of stairs under perfect weather conditions.

I look at a the "stairs" metric as an extra way to get more badges, but nothing else aside from that.  It doesn't affect your calories, it doesn't affect your steps.  It's just a fun metric to earn more badges with.

I wouldn't be surprised if Fitbit stops putting the altimeter in most of their devices in the future, because it isn't accurate most of the time.

Well that's an explanation but it's still not acceptable as it pertains to
what does Fitbit says it's going to be able to do and what it doesn't
do.Itslike seeing a person committed murder because they had a rotten
childhood, it doesn't excuse the act it explains it, but it doesn't excuse
it. so I think all in all the same principle applies here so save it.

Thank you for the explanation.
If that is the case, why does Fitbit offer it in the first place?

problem.?
