Starting and Stopping Exercises on Charge 3

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

On my Charge 2, I could get to the exercise I wanted to start, hold the button, start the timer. Single press pause, hold to stop.

Now I have to press start, and then Let's go. Now I must double press the button to get the finish icon on the screen and then press that. Why do I have to do so many more actions to start and stop exercises 😄

@Slvrwrx I hope you're doing well! Thanks for taking the time to post your experience with exercise tracking on Charge 3.

In this case, I'd recommend creating a Feature Suggestion asking for this to be implemented. That way, other users can vote for the idea and leave a comment to support it.

Please let me know if you create a suggestion.

Keep me posted! Smiley Happy

Once I start an excercise like walking I can't get it to stop. Auto recognize doesn't always pick up a walk automatically even when I walk for 20 min. Because these features don't work correctly I don't get an excercise recorded to my goals. The whole excercise feature doesn't work properly

I have a new Charge3. I put the timer on to start an exercise class, but then can’t turn it off. Sometimes it goes to pause mood and I eventually manage to turn it off. But I have no idea how I managed to do this...

Tap the side button once to pause, tap side button again which brings you to the screen where you can end the exercise. After you tap finish, it will then show an overview of stats, scroll to the bottom and tap the check mark.

Note: Dont do a long hold otherwise you will go into quick settings

Stress!! Side "button" only a light, quick tap. Just enough touch to register but if you press too hard or too long it will take you to another screen. End of exercise--1st tap pauses 2nd tap brings up screen with "Finish". Tap "Finish" and you will see stats. Scroll to bottom and there is a "check mark". Tap "check mark" and you will go to Home Screen/Clock Face. Ridiculous.

I'm finally adjusting to it, but it's definitely something to get used to. I have experienced issues of the timer just completely stopping after being started without user intervention. No idea what causes that, but kind of annoying.

Yes this is a pain the **ahem**, having upgraded from a charge 2, this is fiddly and frustrating. I'd rather have had a button as the last thing I need after exercise is trying to stop the **ahem** thing!

Yeah, I've had my Charge 3 since Christmas, and stopping an exercise now has more steps, and is more difficult than doing so on a Charge 2. Very frustrating.

I’m still having trouble stopping mine. Any tips?

It is difficult. You need to press button on left side 2 quick times. The finish flag will appear on screen Tap it, The stats will appear vertically. Look for the check mark. Tap that. Unnecessarily complicated.

I finally figured it out.  That's not to say that I can do it every time.  You have to get lucky. It's very frustrating when I'm finishing a run to set a time record,  my heart is pounding, I'm dripping with sweat and now I have to perform this fidgety trick?!

The Charge 2 had it right.  Press and hold the button till it vibrates!  Done!

Charge 3:  While still running...tap to get it to light up.  Tap side button(hoping to get the Paused Menu, and not the Notifications menu).  If you get the 'Paused' screen you can stop running.  Then, it says tap side button again to finish the exercise. This takes you to a split screen that says finish on top.  tap that again.

I'm pretty sure this is a joke by the fitbit progamming team that will be corrected soon.  What a testament to the crack production test team that signed off on this cumbersome procedure!

I find stopping an exercise very confusing.  I previously had a charge HR and would hold the button in until it would vibrate and that stopped the exercise.  Especially in bright sunllight it is difficult to see the screen and scoll to "finish" and put a check mark in a box.  I miss my Charge HR

Did they every solve this issue?  I have the same problem. It takes me about a minute to get the exercise started with all the fidgeting. For now I'm going back to using my old Charge HR during runs along with the runkeeper app. Just a simple press and hold to start and press and hold to stop.

Hi yes eventually sorted....

It’s just one short touch that gives you a Start arrow and Set Goal
Touch start to go
Touch to stop which gives you pause
Touch gently again for Finish and Return
Touch finish to end

I agree and also find it extremely frustrating - when I Tap start I expect it to START doing what it's supposed to, not need me to tap again - what is the purpose of the second tap? I want to focus on my exercise not the Fitbit. The feature request page does not work. I've done this too many times now, tap start "Start" exercising and when finished I look at my Fitbit to see Go stupidly grinning back at me. Please eliminate this extra tap - it serves no purpose.

Am I missing an update? My Charge 3 still needs me to click Start and the arrow again f while giving me a useless prompt the all my stats will be in the app for Swimming or just a Go for Cycling. Would really like this to be tap Start and "Start" doing my routine. I really don't see the point for the second prompt and tap.
