Stationary Bike Tabata Workout - Interval or Spinning

Hi,

I recently purchase Charge 2, and new to Fitbit community .

I need to know which mode to select while doing a Tabata workout on a stationary Bike, should it be Spinning or Interval Workout ?

Does Fitbit Charge 2 monitor and process both the workouts in a different way - calories burned based on heart beat in different exercise mode ?

Thanks in Advance

Hi, @Siddhesh in interval mode the Charge 2 will vibrate to indicate active and rest periods.  You might want to track this way if your workout involves set times for speeding up and slowing down at set times (you can, however, only set one alternating interval).

Otherwise, you may want to use spinning.  A third possibility could be "workout" mode.  This mode is designed for you to be able to rename your activity, perhaps as "Tabata".  Note you must create new custom workout names in the web based interface.  However, once created, custom workout names will be available to you on your app.  Simply track as "workout" and then once your activity is synced, you can rename it to your custom name.

Except for the timer during interval mode, the different exercises really only create a label for your activity.  Your calorie burn will be calculated using your heartrate and your profile information (gender, age, height and weight).

I hope this helps.  Please post again with any further questions.  There is always someone here to offer advice.

So irrespective of which mode we select the out put in terms of calories burned would be same.

I normally create my workouts in Workout Trainer App, which has voice guidance. I'l be doing the same however tracking performance through Fitbit, and diet through MyFitnessPal,

that's like 3 apps helping me achieve my goals 🙂

Greetings!

I want to do interval workouts spinning. I read somewhere that using GPS while doing workouts can give you a more exact VO2 Max score. However, with spinning being a stationary activity, my guess is that GPS will be obsolete in this case?
