Two days in a row, my step count in the app and device are going the wrong direction. I watched the step count go down by 3000 steps. I have spoken with two customer service reps and no one has been able to help or act like they even know this is an issue. I am beyond frustrated and ready to return the device.

Does anyone know if this has been fixed yet? Happening frequently with my ionic, clearly a bug in the code when syncing devices

Same here. I just got it Tuesday and I'm ready to return. Spent an hour on the phone with CS with nothing to show for it and the call got disconnected! So frustrating.

Same problem here: all customer service did is escalate it and they only offered a 30%discount on a new fitbit. After reading about how it just keeps being a problem, why should I bother spending more money on something that could potentially be a problem again. I had a Blaze in 2017-2019 and it was wonderful except for the straps that kept breaking off. then I had 2 charge 3s the first one was replaced because the display was losing lines of pixels and my stairs would display 40 flights when I walked downhill or on an absolutely flat service. This last one that now loses 1-2k steps a day also tells me that I’m asleep when at the same time it shows me the map of where I walked. And no, I’m not sleep-walking. I need to find a better fitness tracker or just use this Charge 3 for the maps and forget all the other info. Thank goodness cars are more accurate than fitness trackers.

It's still happening almost 2 years later because it just happened to me just yesterday . I did a Leslie Sansone walking video last night and before that I had around 14,000 steps and then after the workout they increased to around 16,000 . But when I synced they decreased my steps instead of increasing them. It's very frustrating.

I was just about to post the same thing. I seem to have lost a few days worth of steps on Wednesday back to Friday. The walk/running stopwatch exercises I did on Tuesday and Wednesday nights are still there on those days but the rest of the steps I did while walking around are gone.
I did a sync, and it wiped everything all the way back to Sunday. Again, everything was wiped except the exercising steps I did on Tuesday and Wednesday. I've restarted the fitbit, reinstalled app, compared to the Dashboard online...Nothing works to restore those missing steps.

I have this happen intermittently. I have never found an explanation as to how they synch and what the data groups look like. How do they determine the authority for data when you have multiple devices like the phone (MobileTrack) and a trainer like the Charge 4.
Charge 4 sometimes reverts to previous numbers and loses steps and synch with the Bluetooth interface.
I have not really ever seen such an inconsistent interface and app performance...

2 years on from this post and still the issue occurs by the amount of threads for it. For an application that records steps, (the core content of the application!) it clearly has a bug that has never been fixed, and by the looks of it never will - time to vote with feet and start looking at other devices.

It’s actually worse than that as it was fine since Dec 21 until now, it only recently developed this feature in mine or I’ve just started to notice it.

Yesterday I did an ultra with a Garmin on one wrist and my fitbit on the other. ( The battery on the Garmin died and I recorded another 4k on the Strava app) Out on course I saw over 100k steps on my fitbit . Then the app has made up it's own data. No way I was 440 steps every 5 minutes continuously . Then 210. The developers are disgusting and arrogant to take actual data and think they have some better algorithm to change what is recorded.

as quoted from Rich_Laue: "We have been told a release is coming soon to fix this."
Except now it's (Charge 4) doing that exact thing again 2 years later. 😞 I've lost thousands of steps. I've deleted and reinstalled the app. Disconnected the recent app change where it using the phone to count steps, rebooted the device, and not of the steps they tell you to do has worked. I even took a video (poor quality as I was walking) showing it counting up and back even while I was in the middle of walking. -- it just keeps deleting steps.

Mine did this too several times. I track steps for work to earn points and incentives. I know I had over 10k steps earlier this week and it now shows I missed it by 25 steps. Tonight I hit 10k again and watched it sync and steps on both app and fitbit went down. My goal is 10k so it vibrates and everything when I hit that. I ended up having to hit 10k several times and watch the app track steps until both hit 10k and now I refuse to sync it until tomorrow after my work app syncs up because I'm afraid to lose those steps again.
