Tracking Steps after Battery is empty

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi!

My battery is empty, and there is no way for me to charge it until after I go home tonight. Do you know how long my Fitbit will continue to track my steps until it's officially "dead"? Thanks!

Hello @alhopping,

Welcome to the community!

Your Fitbit doesn't track steps after it's completely discharged and not responsive.  However, you have a couple of options:

  1. Enter your steps manually.  If you go to your activities page, you can click on the walking icon on the very bottom and enter a walking activity, you can estimate how many miles (or steps) you had during that time.
  2. You can enable the MobileTrack feature on your phone (provided that it supports it) and it will count steps that you make by noting how it moves as you carry it.  Obviously, you will have to carry your phone, it won't count steps sitting on your desk.

That said, a couple of things to note:

  • I know option #1 does not contribute to steps with respect to badges or challenges.  I don't believe #2 does either, but I don't know for sure.
  • After you get home and charge your Fitbit, sync it before you start using it.  There's a very good chance that the time will be off when it lost its charge and a sync will get it back on the proper time.

I hope this helps.

Thanks! When looking at my fitbit display, the only thing I see is the
empty battery icon, however, when I sync my fitbit to my phone, my steps
still pop up. Do you know how long that will last?

Hello @alhopping,

I can't tell you for sure, since I don't personally have a Charge HR (one of the few trackers I do not have Smiley Embarassed).  Provided that you sync regularly, I've gone a full day after Fitbit fires the low battery notification before charging and it's been fine.  Maybe some of the other folks here in the forum can chime in.

I know that on my Fitbit One, once I reach low enough battery it will display the battery meter before it allows me to look at anything when I press the button.  That enough it is an adequate reminder to charge it when I get home.

Sorry I took so long to reply. All I saw was the battery depleted icon (like it won't show steps) partly thru the day but then when I got home and charged it I got back and had Fitbit flight (flappy human game) unlocked, meaning I met my 7/7 hours (which I had not completed when it went to depleted battery mode), and my phone was being repaired so it wasn't tracking based off phone movement. I had already reached my other goals so that was the only trackable one left. Therefore, IT DOES CONTINUE TO KEEP TRACK OF STEROIDS IN BATTERY DEPLETED MODE, BUT HEART RATE WILL STOP WORKING, ALONG WITH PHONE NOTIFICATIONS.
