@jannyd60 your watch can be a trusted Bluetooth device for many phones, but it will only connect to one phone at a time. With more than one device nearby, their really isn't an easy way to determine which phone the tracker is connected with.
The solution is to turn Bluetooth off on all but the device that you want to sync through.
If you sync through multiple.

Juan. I just received the 4 as a gift and am having the same problems with settings. Loved my 2. Hate the 4 given that Fitbit clearly has a problem. Here’s the main issue when I swipe to weather/settings and tap settings it freezes. Then I have to wait 30 seconds to get back to the time. I have already contacted customer service and they are having me send it back. Very frustrating. I cannot even reboot. Clearly a design issue

Hi Juan,
When you tap settings it does not work and when you tap weather it’s says I need to sync it. Once I tap settings it goes blank and takes 30 seconds to get back to the time. iPhone 11 with 14.3 update. Fitbit app version 3.36 and firmware is 20001.94.13.
customer service told me I have to send it in. I really hope I do not have to do this. If so I will be very disappointed. I loved my charge 2. Let me know if you need more info. FYI just got for Christmas

Why do people still call this setup issue a problem?
This is not a problem, but is expected. See the best answer.
When installed, the Charge 4 loads a limited firmware. Then as the Fitbit users requested, the final version of firmware gets downloaded in the background.
Once the firmware is buffered to the phone, the user is notified.
Tge firmware will take from a half a day up to 2 days, depending on the cpu load of the phone. My update took 9 hours.
Yes this may be a hassle but users did not having to depend on the Internet slurring the actual install of the firmware, and of course as usual, when the users get what they ask for. The users become unhappy.

The main situation is that I can not access the weather or the settings app on my Fitbit charge 4. When I tap on it, the app does not start the whole screen (tracker) freezes, and the Fitbit screen turns off. I can not sink my Agenda to my phone. But other than those three apps, the rest work to the best of my knowledge. I do not receive an error message. I've recently purchased two of the Fitbit charge 4's. My partner works fine, but mine is not. I turn the Fitbit on yesterday.

Upgrade to the latest version. It means a few days, but, patience is a virtue. It just needs that, and then it will function as it should. Incredible that all these were shipped with the firmware that is NOT up to date, and that we have to wait for the latest version. But, it is what it is.

I'm on version 3.36 (20243545) on the app. Is this the latest version because my partner's Fitbit app on our phones is on the same version? On her actual Fitbit watch, it states 48.20001.96.29. Is this the latest version?

I'm having the same exact issue. Just bought the Charge 4 yesterday and installed. It freezes on th last screen. Can't sync any apps. Removed Spotify so that the weather app jumped forward and is no longer on the last screen where the settings app is. I then was able to tap on the weather app (although not syncable still). Settings still unavaliable to tap on, as last screen freezes. Doesn't allow me to reinstall Spotify, as it says I need to make sure I have the latest updates, which I have checked and do have. Fitbit has been on in the background for updating the whole time. It's version 3.36 (1013). When I click on check for Charge 4 updates in the app under Help and Support it says that Charge 4 is updated. What to do?

Can also mentioned that I have restarted with the 8 second pressdown while on charge twice, and it still doesn't work.

Just bought the tracker yesterday. Settings doesn’t do anything when you click it and freezes while a green green light is blinking. No info on weather app “please try syncing with your phone” is the message. Unable to use any of the face clock or download/reload app as it requires update. But tracker shows it is up to date.

The latest firmware is 1.96.29
The Fitbit app is at 3.36
If these are what you have and things are still not working right, please start a new thread so that we can address the problems without hijacking this thread.
For those that setup their Charge 4, please read the best answer.
As for speeding up the buffering of the download.
Keep your phone turned on.
Keep your phone connected to the Internet.
Keep the Fitbit app running in the background.
If you remove the Fitbit app, and install a fresh copy, you have also removed the firmware that has been downloading. Fitbit now has to discover that their is a new firmware. Then start the download.
Until this update is installed, you will not be able to get to settings or change the clock face. And the weather app may not work.
