Walk vs run categorization

When I jog/run outside, I always turn on the GPS tracker functionality. I don’t run very fast, somewhere around a 9:40-10 minute mile. However, Fitbit always automatically categorizes this as a walk. It’s a bit demoralizing but not a big deal; I always go in an re-categorize it as a run after.

So I’m wondering, how fast do I have to jog before it qualifies as a run?

@KayArrKay Welcome! It's good that the community is growing! Sorry for the delay in my reply.

Thank you for your inquiry. Since Fitbit's algorithms aren't public I don't have the information you are requesting as the break down on how walk and run are differentiated. Still you could try doing a few 10 minutes runs at different pace to see how the detection is affected.

I'll be around.
