Weight Tracking

My Charge 3 seems to be tracking my weight automatically, how does it for this? I entered my Initial weight and within a few days it changed my weight and noted I lost 0.1lbs. I have only had my tracker for about a week and have not entered any additional weights.

Hello @PSUBeagle  is this on your Fitbit app, or on the Charge 3. The charge 3 should be simply showing what is displayed in the app, The charge 3 has no ability to track your weight.

I never entered my weight and it automatically put in a weight on both my dashboard and Fitbit.  Then 2 days later it jumped 10 lbs.  I noticed the band was higher on my wrist (not sure if that would make any difference)  I haven’t put any data in manually.  Are you sure it doesn’t track anything?

The Charge 3 has no ability to track,  measure a person's weight, or even add a weight to the users account.

When a user sets up their Fitbit account the are forced to enter their weight and Fitbit uses this weight toll help calculate their BMR.

Weight can only be added through the app or the web.  I'm not sure how weight would change without the user adding a new weight.  This could be done manually,  or through a connected scale.

In short since this issue has nothing to do with the Charge 3 I'm trying to see some clue in the thread to determine what might be happening.

Did you ever get a resolution to this?  I had noticed when I export data that on days I didn't weigh Fitbit would just copy the same weight. Weird but fine. I just exported August of 2020 and there is a different number for each day in the month, but I only weighed maybe half a dozen times last month. I don't have a connected scale, only person with access to the account, etc, etc.  Are they making some calculation based on calories burned?

Hi, I weigh myself only once a week. What I’ve noticed is that for the other 6 days of the week, if I’ve lost a pound, the app/dashboard/whatever will change each days weight instead of keeping the same weight for 6 days.

Thanks, would be nice to know when and why they changed it, and what sort of formula they use. I offload my data into a weight spreadsheet and used to delete out duplicates. Not I'm not sure which weights are real or made up. Like the sleep score replacing the sleep time(since fixed), Fitbit seems to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory.

The formula used, is simple. They take how much weight was lost, or gained, from the previous logging and divide that by the number of days between logging weight.

In my case, I lose 1# a week and every day they say my weight has gone down by .14 of a pound.

Not very accurate if you don’t log your weight if it goes up slightly, before it goes back down. They would show that you were on a continuous loss, when if fact you weren’t.

Thanks for doing the math.  Interesting that only the dates I log are on my phone, I only see the made up numbers when I export the data. I went through and cleaned up that list for the year. Now I know to be watching for it.

Thanks.

You’re more than welcome.

And the only time I see all these weights is when I export the data also.

If the company thinks it’s doing people a favor, well ... I can live without that kind of favor!

I got my Versa 3 a couple days ago.  Wasn't sure if I was still 150 but put that # in.  I was playing around with my Versa and app tonight and bitten it has my weight at 158.5.
