double entries daily on my walk or run activities

I use my android google gps on my walk/runs.  It records the single event as two separate events, with the first event about 2-3 minutes start before the 2nd event.. yesterday, the gps said that i walked 6.5 miles. The fitbit recorded the first walk at 6.18 miles, and the second event (same map basically) as 2.85 miles. The second event always includes my average heart rate. 

 

Is this over-recording my activity?
