stride length

I have a charge 2,  I put in a stride length by directions given (25.41), each time I go for a walk the pace is different, which I understand.  Does the charge 2 figure pace based on my steps/distance or based on the pace number I put in?  The number I got was 25.41, shorter distance but when I average 5 walks it comes  to 22.86 on the Charge 2, and on my Fitbit ONE  I entered 25.1  after 5 walks averaged 24.25.  Do I need to change the stride length or let the fitbit figure it or does it matter.  I just want it to be as accurate as possible.  The distance on the two devices are different as well when going the same route.  I think a mile is a mile and a minute is a minute, how can the times differ, as well as distance.

More interested in distance on my walks, devices will show both steps and distance.  should i be changing something?

Is it correct to assume you are not using connected-GPS?

You speak of the "pace number" you put in.  I don't know where or why you are entering a pace number.  Are you manually logging the walks after you were wearing the tracker for them?

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

I find my One the most accurate

I let my wrist models do as they please. Sometimes I dont swing my arms sometimes I do. My wrist models always pick up more than my one.

I'm going to add my thoughts.

First please realize that most people will have a slightly different stride from day to day.. Feelings, tired, even mental distractions will affect the stride, also when the speed changes, so will the stride.

Before we can think about the pace we need to look at the stride, yes I would average it over a few walks.

The easiest is to walk the same course, with a known distance, on 5 different days.

Add the step counts of these 5 walks together and multiply the distance by 5. Now if you need to use an online stride calculator to determine your average stride.

There are other ways we could figure out the stride, one way doesn't even look at step count but I believe the above will be the easiest and more reliable way for you.
