I've also had this problem before. Here is how to resolve it:
1. Plug your charger into a wall socket.
2. Place your Fitbit onto the charger and make sure the little metal prongs line up.
3. Press on the left "button" for 8 seconds. You should see the display disappear and a loading bar light up. Shortly after that you will see a smiling face.
