Last yr when I walked, I set my inspire 2 to walk, opened my map and went. It tracked everything and showed me a map of where I went. Now it is not doing my routes anymore. When I press inspire 2 in my bluetooth on phone, it tells me an app is needed to use this device. I obviously have an app. Had this watch for a few yrs and never failed me till now. Also it always vibrated and showed me txt msgs and calls. Isn't doing that anymore either. I haven't changed anything from last yr, so why is all this happening. What am I missing.

Hi, @wildwilly018, if you have recently updated your Fitbit app on your phone or changed your phone you may need to review your settings. As you know your Inspire 2 uses your phone's GPS (it does not have a GPS chip of its own)

For notifications, go into the Fitbit app on your phone (you do not say what make or model of phone you are using so I can't be precise here) Check you have granted all the permissions (in particular location), clear storage & cache, and ensure the battery is unrestricted, In mobile data & WiFi make sure background data is allowed and unrestricted data usage is allowed, it needs access to the internet so make sure you have enough funds in your account to run data.

Now visit the Fitbit app home screen (Today screen) touch your icon in the top left>Inspire2>notifications, ensure the green slider in the top right is on, touch each of the headings (Text messages etc) and set as desired. Note that if you want to disable one use the slider in the top right. Return to the Today screen & sync by sliding your finger down the screen & releasing.

You should review your Google Maps settings.

I hope this helps but if you are still stuck please post here again.

Cheers

Thanks for the reply. I have thoroughly checked everything over and over. I use a samsung galaxy A71. Same phone I have had for quite awhile. Everything worked proper last yr on same phone. All permissions checked across the board. Location checked. GPS on and working all the time. I see clear cache, which I have done, but not storage. Background data is allowed and unrestricted data usage is allowed. When O go to home screen (Today screen) >notifications, all green slider are on. I sync it all the time. I have checked my google maps settings. Don't know what else to look for. I have changed nothing since it did everything I needed last yr. I opened fitbit on phone and went to exercise. tapped on stopwatch in top rt corner. GPS map comes up showing my location. Went to exercise on my watch. Tap it. Tap walk and then tap the arrow to start and way I go. When I get back I stop it on watch and check my phone and no map of my route like I used to get. At one time when I got a txt or phone call it would show on my watch on the main screen with time, steps hrt rate, cal and distance traveled. Now nothing. I actually got a txt today and flipped it to notifications and txt showed there, but never had to move anything before. Everything has me puzzled now.

Hi, @wildwilly018 The data for your walk will only populate your Fitbit app on your phone after you have completed (and stopped) the walk and you have synced your Fitbit app. I have not paid much attention to my Inspire 2 while walking so can't comment on what I see while my walk is in progress, my recollection is I see the mounting "Step" total if it is in the clock display I'm using.

You might like to try a reset or even a factory reset of your Inspire 2, bear in mind you will need to sync your data before doing this.

I hope this helps.

Cheers

Hi @Gr4ndp4 I never got out for walk today, but will see what it does tomorrow. I am doing everything the same as I did last yr. Just wish I could show you what it registered for me then. I don't look at anything while I am walking. If it does I feel it buzz for certain things like steps and heart rate. I don't know how to do reset or if I will screw more up that way. Thanks again for your help.

@Gr4ndp4 I guess I am at a loss here. Went for walk today, but no map route when I got back. My gps is working. My phone says fitbit pedometer is running. It did say my tracker was running. Don't know where to go from here. How do I reset.

Hi, @wildwilly018, take a look at this video, you can usually find what you need on YouTube, otherwise checkout the manual.

I have done everything I can figure out. Every suggestion on here. Searched the net for solutions, but still can't track my walks with a map of it at the end. It worked great before. About ready to toss it or uninstall app. Really enjoyed it when it would should my mapped route with all the zones on it so I could see where the best heart zones were. I don't get it. Haven't changed anything since it worked.

I just got back from a long walk where I started tracking/mapping it and checked it at various midpoints. As I ended my walk, I looked at my phone and saw that the tracking was now off.  It was only showing the previous 30 minutes, having missed the full hour (which I had seen on screen during my walk). Very frustrating.  I finally got the heartrate monitor to work again (hard reset and overnight charging) and now this part is glitching.

@SoleLow I hear what your saying. No clue why it is not doing what it used to. Was always excited to go for walks to see what I could accomplish and now it isn't the same.
