Active Zone minutes does not track well

Sometimes my Fitbit Sense tracks active minutes, but I just spent 15 minutes on the treadmill and active minutes registers 0. As someone who has worked for decades in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, an algorithm is only as good as the quality of the data. Instead of having a generic algorithm to identify active minutes, there should be a feature in the Fitbit application such that, if you are currently active, you can optionally flag this time as active minutes explicitly. This would turn on data collection and analysis. Then the Fitbit software can analyze this data to customize a model of active minutes for your unique characteristics. As far as the customer is concerned, the main difference is a button in the app to indicate that at this time period, I am active, so use this data for my personalized model.

hey there. you can also start an activity such as treadmill that will track the exercise. you can set it to give you a buzz for when you are in an HR threshold. you will know if you are falling under the fat burn threshold which will result in no active zone minutes..

Yeah. It is based on your heart rate. You can see your actual actives minutes in the app. I don't get much zone minutes because of it. I agree that something should be done about it.

I have just moved from flex2 to Inspire2.  This morning wearing the Inspire2 I noticed a big difference in the way my flex2 and the new Inspire2 count active minutes. I think it is because the Inspire2 uses heartbeats bpm (beats per minute) and I have a sleeping and resting 49 bpm, and a known low heart rate (bradacardia) so to get up to 88 bpm requires me to be almost running, and I have yet to get past the fat burning stage and into the 107-131 Cardio section.  (Later I found that longer walks, starting uphill do the trick, and more sweat!)


Is there a known difference between the fitbit flex2 and the Inspire2 active minutes? Does my resting bpm which shows as about 49-50 bpm on this new Inspire2 indicate that I should adjust the fat burning and cardio levels somehow?

 

A morning fast walk answered some of my questions. The new Inspire2 has higher standards, but I can work with it ok. I started up a hill and immediately my heart rate went to 99 bpm and with a very brisk walk I was soon getting 114 bpm. So I completed the 4,000 steps, roughly 2 miles, with active zone = 48 min of cardio and 20 fat. So it works fine for me. I am sweating more than I was before because it is more demanding, but that is ok.


The active zone works differently than the flex2, the Week tab graph does not show the flex2 active minutes, but it does show them in the date list below.
