Is calorie deficit the amount of cals I need to consume in a day in order to lose weight or is it the amount of cals I need to burn in a day? I’m trying to make a plan on my Fitbit but I’m unsure what this means.

A calorie deficit is the difference between the calories you eat and the calories you burn. So, for example, if you eat 1500 calories in a day but burn 2000 then your calorie deficit is 500.
As a rough guide, having a daily deficit of 500 - giving a weekly deficit of 3500 - will result in a weight loss of 1 pound per week.
