Can't Find Contacts/Friends to Add

I've searched through messages to try and find the answers. I could not. 

It seems my new Fitbit Inspire is connecting to my iphone contacts and my email contacts, but won't connect to facebook (times out) and the contacts that are shown are old contacts, from the last time I had a Fitbit (5+ years ago). These are contacts from another country that were never even in my current phone. 

I can't find any of my actual current friends - and yes, I have their email addresses in their contact details and I can't find a way to update my contacts. I've tried logging out and resyncing. 

Suggestions? Thank you!

Let me help you adding friends to your account. Check your on your linked apps on your Fitbit account if Facebook doesn't show up there. If it shows then remove it and add it back to see if you can link it. Regarding the contacts on your phone since you already have an email it could be that your friends don't have a Fitbit account associated with that particular email address. Still you can try sending invites via the website here. You can read more about Fitbit friends here.

@AlvaroFitbit Thanks for your reply. I will check out the Facebook app thing, I'm not sure about that. In terms of the emails: It isn't that I don't have their correct email address. The contacts that are showing up as available are contacts I had ten years ago in Germany (the first time I had a fitbit); their information has never been in my current American cell phone. The contacts I'm trying to connect with don't even appear in the "don't have fitbit" section, because none of my contacts are current or accurate. Aside from that, the four people I was specifically looking for, I definitely do have their correct email because I've asked them. I can't even search for them by their name or that email. They don't show up in fitbit at all for me, though they are most definitely in my phone contacts correctly. Two of them successfully found me, but they also said it was more difficult than usual - I didn't just show up in their contacts either.
