Counting steps during an exercise

Hello,

I'm sure this has been mentioned before, and isn't specific to the Inspire HR, but I'm posting this anyway.

Why does the tracker count steps when you tell it you are doing an exercise that doesn't include taking steps?

I use a stationary bike, and do a timed "Spinning" exercise, using my device.

I would assume that if you tell the device you are spinning, it would not count steps during the exercise.

It seems pretty simple to me..

Hi @notxap,

That's a good question, but it's difficulty to answer "why" questions because they are really design issues. No one here knows those considerations.

Practically speaking, some people wear their Fitbits on their ankles during Spinning, etc., in order to get the steps counted. So those folks would rely on that kind of behavior.
