They haven't fixed it. They arent going to fix it. It's been a problem over multiple models for several years. Every once in awhile they send some drone to the Community forums with a sytupid and totally impractical solution (take it off and plug it in while driving) and nothing else happens. If you want something that actually works close to correctly, go to Garmin.

True! I really like(d) my fitbit, good looking and functional but I see a lot of complaints over this step counting and yes nothing happens!!!! That is bad and quite unuseful for users,,,,,,, and its not even close to fixing!!! And they play numb over and over,,,,, I am getting quite pisssd off with watch that should be much better then it is - or cost 10$ working like this

This is just ridiculous. Marking this problem as solved is quite a stretch. My old phone from 5 years ago with Pedometer didn't have this problem. My fit bit has GPS so knows my movements. How on hearth can it think i am taking steps at 30 - 40 mph, some sort of world record there. It is just poor coding. Thanks goodness mine was a freebie from work. if i had spent my hard earned on it, i would be sending it straight back.

I think this is a very poor solution and Fitbit should have a simple tap command on the device. I drive upto 10 times a day for work and it’s adding 2000+ steps per day. I find it very difficult and inaccurate trying to guess / remember times and manually logging ‘driving’ activity every time. I’m amazed it’s not a basic realisation by Fitbit that this is an issue.

that's a totally inadequate solution - the whole point of the device is that it monitors your activity - if yo have to manuall edit data it defeats the point of buying a device to do it, like having a dog and reminding it to bark when strangers approach!
i am having the same problem as the posters here, fitbit showing steps taken while i am stationary - this is not good enough

Unacceptable. Im a School bus driver and consistently get 3000+ steps every time I drive a route for 2-3 hours. Its ridiculous they cant figure out the difference between driving and actual walking/exercise. And it says "steps and calories decrease during the activity" when you log a "Driving" activity. But this never happens and I still have steps/calories counted for Driving, even after acting an activity.

This has been an issue with fitbit for years, you'd think they'd just.. ya know, fix it.
