Fitbit Connect on Mac won't connect with my Inspire HR

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I just added a new Inspire HR to my Fitbit account using my son's smartphone, but I have used the Dashboard and Fitbit Connect to sync my tracker on my Mac computer as I do not use a smartphone.  To get the new Inspire HR to sync using Fitbit Connect, I need to setup the new device using that software. However, when I follow the prompts to setup, the Fitbit Connect screen shows a blank screen once I have selected the Inspire HR to setup.  The window only shows the Next and Back buttons at the bottom along with the four dots to keep track of the steps in the setup.  This seems like a software compatibility issue.  I am running MacOS 10.12.6.

Hi @steven73, welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for sharing all those details about your new Fitbit Inspire HR.

You did a great job setting up your Inspire HR on your song's smartphone. You don't need to setting it up on your Mac computer. In this case, I'd recommend to go to the Bluetooth settings on your son's phone and "disconnect"

o "forget device" from there. This will avoid future syncing issues with your computer.

Then on your Mac computer:

  1. Click the icon with a Fitbit logo located near the date and time on your computer.
  2. Click Open Main Menu > Sync Now. You may be asked to sign in.

If you keep having issues syncing with your Mac computer check these syncing troubleshooting steps:

  • Fitbit Connect is installed. To check, look for an icon with the Fitbit logo near the date and time on your computer screen. If you can't find it, try the set up instructions again in How do I set up my Fitbit device?
  • If you're using a Mac and want to sync over Bluetooth, make sure Bluetooth is turned on. To check, go to System Preferences > Bluetooth > Turn Bluetooth On.
  • If your computer doesn't support Bluetooth, it can still communicate with your device if you purchase a wireless sync dongle from the Fitbit Store.
  • If you use more than one device to sync, make sure the other device isn't nearby. If the device is nearby, turn off Bluetooth on it.

I'll be around in case you have more questions.

After following these directions, I still get the "Not Working?" window in Fitbit Connect.  My Inspire HR is very close to my computer, it is not connected to another device nor are there other trackers nearby.  I have used Fitbit Connect to sync my old Charge 2, so I know it has worked before.

Inspire is NOT supported by Mac.(according to product manual) But Customer Support will not outright tell you that, instead try to convince you to use a smart phone. They may also straight up lie to you and say it IS supported but still try to get you to setup/connect via smart phone.
