Fitbit Inspire undercounts running steps

I am frustrated with my Inspire under counting the steps I take when I run. I can usually add them in myself under exercise, but my device still shows that I did not make my hour goal. I counted the steps myself, so I know I went over the goal. The app updates but the device still has me missing the goal. How do I get my device to accurately count my steps when I'm moving faster than a walk?

Are you on a treadmill holding hand rail with fitbit wrist?  If so those steps often are not detected.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

No, regular running with my arms moving. My Inspire can't seem to keep up if I'm taking fast steps.
