Heart rate inaccuracy

I have recently noticed that while I am working up a sweat and the heart monitor on the treadmill says 164 (which is not far from my peak zone and seems accurate for the amount of work I'm putting in) my fitbit only says 122 which is just above my light zone and clearly wrong. How do I get this to track better again?

Thank you for taking the time to share the details regarding this situation with heart rate.

Differences between heart-rate readings on your device and on exercise equipment are likely due to wrist or hand position. Make sure the back of your device is in contact with your wrist and that your band is snug. There are some factors that can affect your heart-rate reading on your Fitbit device. Still an issue. Actual heart rate was 170 and fitbit was tracking down 118 down to 114. Really getting annoying that I'm stopping my workout to readjust the fitbit or make it tighter and do the suggested things to make it read my heart rate better. It used to be fine..this is a recent problem and I haven't changed anything to what I used to do..
