Inspire 2 battery drains very quickly

Hi,

I gifted my husband this fitbit in 2019 - so it's not that old. It has started draining battery very quickly. Doesn't even take 2 hours to go to 5% after a full charge.

What is Fitbit doing???? Firmware updates which is making fitbit's battery drain quicker??

We have tried everything- clean out the ends thoroughly and reset/reboot and charge with connecting via laptop. No avail.

I have FitBit which is even older and is working great.

Hi @Jerseyian , as I am sure you are aware, all rechargeable batteries have a limited number of recharge cycles, and the maximum number will depend to a large extent on how it has been used.  A modern lithium ion type rechargeable battery, such as are in all Fitbits, that has been regularly allowed to discharge completely will have a much shorter life compared to one that is regular.y kept charged.  Little and often charging will maximise battery life over time compared to only charging it when it is entirely out of power.

If a reset/ reboot has not solved this issue after a couple of tries, and cleaning the charging contacts using rubbing alcohol and a soft cloth, it may be that this Fitbit is coming to the end of its useful life.  If you gave it to your husband in 2019 it could now be more than two years old.  Two years is currently considered close to the end of the battery life of many modern cell phones, and these have much larger batteries, and cost considerably more, than Fitbits.

It sounds like this is natural deterioration.  I am sorry not to have better news for you.

on the brighter side, if you get in touch with Fitbit customer support on Contact.Fitbit.com they may be able to offer you, as a loyal customer, a significant discount on an upgrade to a new device.

I hope this helps.  Welcome to the forums!

The same thing happened to mine, but I haven’t even had it for a full year. 6 months max. I usually charge it a little every day and the battery lasted a long time throughout the day and worked just fine, but I went on a 4 day vacation without the charger (i forgot it) and it died for the first time and I couldn’t charge it until a full 24 hrs after it died and now the battery is draining rapidly, and I’m not sure why. What do you recommend to fix the problem?
