I am currently on business in Jordan, and as such I am keeping my mobile on flight mode. Today at the hotel I joined a spin class, and when I went to exercise on my Fitbit, to bike, it said 'Connecting' but then never actually did anything.
I assume this is because it is trying to connect to GPS through my mobile, but is it not possible to start a bike session without this?
(On a different note, would 'Bike' be suitable for a spin class, given I won't be cycling anywhere physically?)

Hello @JnthnGrnhw and a warm welcome. Yes, your phone cannot connect to the GPS satellites when you are in flight mode. I don't have an Inspire HR on my account, but I still believe you can start/stop the exercise without the connection. That said, there is a Spinning exercise shortcut, a better choice for you. The down side is that you must be able to connect to the internet to change your exercise shortcuts. Is there a "trusted" place that you can connect to wi-fi?
To change your exercise shortcuts, tap on your Profile picture > Inspire HR > Exercise Shortcuts. If you list is full, you need to delete an exercise. Now you can add Spinning.
You also need internet access to sync your tracker.

Thank you for the detailed reply @LZeeW
I was actually on the hotel wifi at the time, but I still couldn't start a 'Bike' exercise from my Fitbit because it was trying to connect to... something. It connects fine with my mobile as I was with it and it was able to sync.
I've altered my exercise shortcuts now, to add spinning as I'm much more likely to be doing this than cycling outside. I've synced my Fitbit though, and when I swipe up and press 'Exercise', the new shortcuts I chose are not showing.

@JnthnGrnhw I am not sure why your exercise shortcuts aren't updating. When things like that happen to me I try some standard tips
On my phone, airplane mode disabled Bluetooth. You need Bluetooth to connect your tracker to your phone for connected GPS. But you also use Bluetooth to sync your tracker. So I haven't figured out how you could sync your tracker while in airplane mode.

Eventually after a few hours it worked out right.
With regards to airplane mode, it does switch off bluetooth by default, but you can then go ahead and switch it back on without coming out of airplane mode, so that was already done.
