So, my Inspire HR has been working just dandy since I got it in May. I love it, it is super fun.
Then I got a notice the two days ago (7/10/19) that I need to do a firmware update. I started the update. It all was going fine until about 5 minutes in, then it declares that there is no Bluetooth. I go through all of the steps recommended. For two days it won't admit that my fitbit exists. I am on the road, so I think, that's OK, I will just wait until I get home and plug it into the computer with the charging dongle. Except, as my tech husband gently explained to me, that is literally nothing more than a charging cord. And the only way to connect the fitbit to the computer is through bluetooth. And if your computer doesn't have bluetooth you have to by a second dongle. This strikes me as very frustrating and very annoying. The fitbit comes with a charging dongle you have to connect into a USB port, so why on earth doesn't it allow me to actually access my fitbit on my desktop through that?
I had to make my phone "forget" my fitbit, and then it would suddenly recognize it, until I tried doing the stupid firmware update again. I have to go through this big rigmorale over a firmware update I don't even understand what it's supposed to do, and it keeps breaking my bluetooth connectivity. And apparently there is no other way to update the **ahem** thing except through bluetooth which it breaks. It is a vicious circle that is making me so frustrated that I want to scream.
And seriously, I don't want to hear one more suggestion about turning my bluetooth on and off. it's stupid that there isn't someway to just connect the **ahem** thing to the computer and do a direct download of the firmware. If the only way to load the stupid firmware is through the stupid bluetooth with the update breaks, then I guess I won't be doing firmware updates. and what the hell is the update for anyway? what is it fixing? I know what it is breaking! stupid fitbit.

Best AnswerMy Fitbit Inspire stopped working this morning also. Glad I'm not the only one.
Best AnswerFor reasons I can't explain, the firmware update would only load if I was wearing the Fitbit and had my cell phone right next to it on top of my hand. 45 minutes like that. If I took the Fitbit off and but next to it or on top of the phone it would break the Bluetooth. If I put the phone on the table next to my wrist it would break the Bluetooth. And the moment I told my phone to "forget" the Fitbit it would decide that everything was just fine and sync. So stupid.
Hope you guys got your's to work.
