Inspire HR interval training vibrations

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I’ve set up an interval training exercise shortcut on my Inspire HR to do 10s move and 15s rest with 43 repeats to get about 20 mins overall. I was hoping it would mean I could just feel the vibrations to know when each interval ends without having to watch the clock. However, I get multiple vibrations and never know where I am in the cycle. For example, sometimes I get a vibration with 5s left in the rest interval, so I still need to wait a bit, while other times only at the start of the move interval, meaning when I wait a bit I’ve missed the start of the move interval. Also I can’t tell if it’s trying to remind be but it seems like if I don’t raise my arm to check it, I get another vibrate a couple seconds into my move interval. Given I trying to use these cues to determine when I stop and start high intensity, it’s confusing and difficult to do the exercise and I can’t focus when I’m always checking my watch. Is there some what to control the vibration times of the interval training?

Welcome to the Fitbit Forums @Jmbeca! Nice to see you here.

I'm glad to see that you're using the new Inspire HR, congratulations. About your inquiry, there is not special instructions that you need to follow since for intervals the your device will vibrate 15 seconds before the timer switches from move to rest, then vibrate when it switches again.

You can also check that you're not getting other notifications while working out by turning them off.

Check quick settings
Press and hold the button on Inspire HR for a faster way to access certain settings.
Tap a setting to turn it on or off. When you turn off the setting, the icon appears dim
with a line through it.

On the quick settings screen you can:

  • Check the battery level.
  • Adjust your Screen Wake setting. When the Screen Wake setting is on, turn
your wrist toward you to turn on the screen.
  • Turn notifications on or off. When the Notifications setting is on, Inspire HR
displays notifications from your phone when your phone is nearby.

Hope this helps. Please keep me posted.

Thank you for the information.

For further clarification, will it be one vibration regardless, or will it continue like an alarm until I acknowledge it? I notice there is a tiny icon on the bottom left corner that gets a checkmark in it, what does that indicate?

Given my move interval is only 10 seconds long, a vibration 15 seconds before the end of move is actually happening 5 seconds before the start of move. This doesn’t make any sense. Can that be turned off (or corrected when short intervals are used)?

I’m experiencing the same exact issue.

This explanation didn’t resolve the issue. Watch vibrating has nothing to do with notifications. I have notifications turned off and I’m experiencing the same issue. The watch will randomly vibrate, typically every 5 seconds. I have my move settings set to 1 min and Rey set to 18 seconds

Did you manage to solve this? I’m experiencing same problem?

Best Answer

No unfortunately, I’m waiting from someone from Fitbit to respond. Make sure to tap on that vote button at the bottom of the reply. The more people that raise an issue the quicker they’ll address it.

I have this issue too!! So annoying

Make sure to click on the vote button. More people that raise the issues the sooner they will address it or escalate it.

Did you also notice how the interval counter counts the exercise and the rest period. My Fitbit 2 only counted the exercises. Made it easier to track what set you’re on.

Still no answer to this?? It’s so annoying I don’t get it. Same thing happens for me a little running timer appears at the bottom and check marks and X’s appear next to it every time it vibrates

Yea still no response. Very eye opening experience. I like the look and feel but the function is poor. Just gotta hope more people raise their hands.

The weird thing is it seems like sometimes it doesn't do this and just vibrates at the end of each interval (rest and move).  When it works it's a great feature.  Frustrating that it's unreliable though and I can't seem to figure out what makes it do those extra vibrations sometimes...

It seems to work if I turn the Bluetooth off on my phone.

Then when I’ve finished my exercise and turn it back on it syncs up.

I’m literally experiencing the same thing. And I agree it’s very frustrating. Another thing I found annoying and you call it out in this post is the fact that it vibrates and counts the rest and move. I had a fitbit2 and that only counted and vibrated when a move ended or started. It’s cosmetic but I found it easier to identify when I needed to stop and go or where I was in my reps.

Hmm I think mine does what you say you want it to.  It vibrates at the end of each cycle.  Like one vibration at the end of move, and one at the end of rest.  So you know when to switch.  The problem is just that it also seems to do the random vibrations sometimes with the checks and X's.  But I think the putting phone in bluetooth suggestion might solve that...haven't tested it enough to see for sure.

I’ll give that a shot myself and let you know I learn. I’m just wondering if you’re turning off the Bluetooth on your phone are you listening to music with a wired headset ?

Best Answer

Ah true - I don't usually.  But maybe just try disconnecting from the fitbit device, and not turning off bluetooth all together.  That way you can keep the headphones connected?

Same problem but might have found something from the manual....Under the tracking exercise heading it states, "If you set an exercise goal, your tracker vibrates when you’re halfway to your goal and when you reach the goal." I haven't found a way to adjust yet but looking into it.

I haven’t found a fix to be honest. They’re customer service isn’t that helpful and their tech support will only look into it if more people raise their hands.

Needless to say I dumped my device and picked up an Apple Watch. They have a bunch apps you can download that will do the same if not more.

I am experiencing the same thing, it will vibrate 3-4 times during the “move” part of my interval training. It’s very distracting and frustrating.
