Inspire HR mapping

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have started going on daily walks, on the same footpaths, but find the mapping of my route varies. Sometimes I get an accurate map, but different mileages. Sometimes an accurate map stops part way through the walk. Sometimes the map is VERY wrong, sometimes just not as accurate. Sometimes the map just shows the start point, or a straight line between the two points. Sometimes there is no map at all - just mileage and steps. Even had a map running about parallel to my walk and ending at a different point. This feature is useless really, as is the unreadable display in sunlight. Not impressed with this device.

@KevinInspireHR Thanks for joining us!

Let me help you with your GPS data not being correctly recorded by your phone and tracker. The Inspire HR doesn't have a GPS chip so it uses your phone's chip to record this data. Lets try refreshing the link between them to help improve this feature by doing the following:

  1. Go to your phone's bluetooth settings and remove all devices listed there.
  2. Restart your phone and restart your device
  3. Check that no battery saving app/feature on your phone is affecting your Fitbit app.
  4. Also, on an Android device, check that your app has the necessary permissions (settings > apps > Fitbit > permissions) and make sure bluetooth and location services (GPS) are on.
  5. You can find troubleshooting instructions here.

Let me know how it goes.

HI Alvaro

Thanks for your reply and advice. I followed all steps, but my mapping is
still the same - sometimes accurate, sometimes VERY inaccurate on the same
route.. I have restarted the Inspire HR and phone (Nolia 1), removed and
reconnected the Inspire in the phone settings Bluetooth, uninstalled and
reinstalled the app on the phone. If the Inspire does not have GPS,
presumably the directions come from the phone, so perhaps that is the
problem. However, I have no plans to replace the phone!

Another problem with the Inspire HR is the light level on the screen. When
I am out in the open, I have to find shade in order to read the screen.
Fitbit say they have no plans to alter this, but this seems to be a major
fault. If the device is supposed to be an exercise aid, and you cannot see
the readout, what is its use.

Very disappointed with the device.
