Inspire HR not tracking steps

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Inspire HR is not tracking intermittently. I walked 3.1mph for 6 minutes on the treadmill when I realized no steps registered. I can walk around the house and no steps register. Worked out on my Gazelle not using the arm function,  moving my legs at a running speed, for 5 minutes and no steps registered.

Simultaneously I continually get no device found when I try to sync it.

I've tried resetting the Fitbit to the smiley face. Uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Turning my Android phone off. Turning the Bluetooth off. While this fixes the problem sometimes I have to do it almost daily which is annoying. I purchased my Fitbit the end of November,  2019.

I've read the forum comments and have tried everything. I love the Fitbit but am sick of the issues. Any suggestions that I haven't already tried would be greatly appreciated. My next step is to invoke my warranty!

@PastorLeisa I hope you are doing again.

Let me help you with your Inspire HR not tracking your steps and thank you for troubleshooting this issue. Your device will detect the movement on your arm and translate that movement into steps. There are situations in which your arm may be still but you could be moving or walking. This may happen when you are pushing a cart or holding bars while walking or using a treadmill. For added sensitivity you can try wearing your device on your dominant hand but select that hand as non dominant on the device’s settings to make it more sensitive to movement. Also make sure your hands are moving so the device can properly track your steps.

Regarding your syncing issues you can try the following:

  1. Go to your phone's bluetooth settings and remove all devices listed there.
  2. Restart your phone and restart your device
  3. Check that no battery saving app/feature on your phone is affecting your Fitbit app.
  4. Also, on an Android device, check that your app has the necessary permissions (settings > apps > Fitbit > permissions) and make sure bluetooth and location services (GPS) are on.
  5. You can find troubleshooting instructions here.

Let me know how it goes.
