Inspire HR sleep score tracking issues

I have a new Fitbit inspire HR and just subscribed to premium early this week. The sleep score appears for the first night on the app (iPhone latest iOS) and then it just stopped working/not calculating and not showing for the last 3 nights. I’ve tried some suggestions in the forum but there was no real remedy from any replies:

  • deleted my app and reinstalled
  • restarted my HR device
  • re-synced my HR device to my app

I’m not sure if I just had a faulty device or it’s the Fitbit server or it’s the App. How come it works for some folks to have a daily calculated sleep score and not for some? The performance of this device is not consistent for everyone. Looks like those who faced the same problem did not have a real solution so I’m posting a new topic for FitBit support to look into.

Hi!! After I posted this open forum, I found a response from “SteveH” member and i tried it last night. He said this:

It can't calculate a sleep score without the sleep stages information. Fitbit say:

"There are a few scenarios where you might see your sleep pattern (which shows your time asleep, restless, and awake) instead of sleep stages:

  • If you slept in a position that prevented your device from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely. For best results, wear your device higher on your wrist (about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone). The band should feel secure but not too tight.
  • If you used the Begin Sleep Now option in the Fitbit app (instead of simply wearing your device to bed). For more information on automatic sleep tracking, see How do I track my sleep?
  • If you slept for less than 3 hours.
  • If your device’s battery is critically low.

For more information about why you see your sleep pattern, tap or click the sleep record that shows your sleep pattern."

basically, I’ve been using the “begin sleep” function on my app (I’m a newbie) and I didn’t know the Fitbit will automatically start tracking it. Last night, i just wore it to sleep without using “Begin Sleep” and it works this morning. I also changed my sleep settings from “sensitive” to “normal” since sensitive was too sensitive, it was recording too little sleep so a score can’t be calculated. Hopefully it resolves your situation as well.

Happens to me too. It is so frustrating. Their code probably has lot of bugs. How difficult would it be to calculate sleep score for every night? Especially if the heartbeat data is already there.

Thanks for the info. I have been using Begin Sleep as well. Does not make sense why would they have that option if it results in inferior data.

Hi, I have the same problem with my Inspire HR. I have this fitbit for 8 days now and wear it day and night. The sleep score appeared only 3 times on the app (iPhone latest iOS) the other days it only give me how many hours I slept and when I was awake or restless.

I’ve tried all the suggestions but nothing works.

I read many people have this problem. Is there finally a solution???? 🙏🏼

Hi, I posted a lengthier reply to myself after i posted it. I’ve copied an excerpt below that worked for me:

Hi @Skymsy it worked for me too, without using the “begin sleep” function and changed sleep settings to “normal”.
Thanks!!,
