Having issues with battery length and now also the screen doesn't respond when I try to hit 'start' (i.e. the arrow) for a run/bike etc. Seems to track steps and distance ok, when the battery is working....
I have tried the restart. Battery is currently at 100% and still it won't work to track my run.

Let me help you with your Inspire HR not working and it should and thank you for troubleshooting this issue. Try cleaning the contacts using cotton swab with rubbing alcohol, then charge it by plugging it for a couple of hours directly to your computer's USB port (try different ports) or use an UL-certified USB adapter. After this, restart your device again to see if this last step helps with the screen and see how it behaves. You can follow these instructions to help improve the battery life.
