Inspire doesn't sync

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I got my Inspire a week ago.  It was working great with my Mac and iPad.  Yesterday, Inspire stopped syncing at 2:14 pm.  I cannot get it to sync with my Mac or iPad for anything.  It's counting steps on the Inspire but not syncing with my Mac or iPad. Someone suggested attaching the Inspire to the charger and holding the button for 10 seconds.  That wiped out today's steps on the Inspire (back to 0) but it still won't sync with my Mac or iPad. Fitbit Support won't get back to me for 2 days.  Thinking about returning this thing!

Nice to see that you're digging into the Forums @JulieJH, let me give you a warm welcome to our Community.

Thanks for troubleshooting this beforehand and for contacting our support team too. Syncing difficulty is usually caused by a missing requirement. Please let's turn off the Bluetooth of your Mac and if it is possible I'd consider to remove Fitbit Inspire from there. Verify each requirement before moving on to the troubleshooting steps.

  • The Fitbit app is installed on a supported iPhone or iPad. To check, see:  Which phones and tablets can I use with my Fitbit watch or tracker?
  • The latest version of the Fitbit app is installed on your iPhone or iPad.
  • Your iPhone or iPad has a cellular data or Wi-Fi connection.
  • The software on your iPhone or iPad is up to date. To check, tap Settings > General > Software Update.
  • The Bluetooth setting on your iPhone or iPad is on. To check, tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  • Your iPhone or iPad isn't managing other Bluetooth connections. If you have multiple Bluetooth products like speakers or headsets paired to your phone along with your Fitbit device, you may have trouble using more than one at the same time. Turn off other Bluetooth connections when not in use.
  • If you use more than one device to sync, make sure the other device isn't nearby. If the device is nearby, turn off Bluetooth on it.
  • Your Fitbit device's battery isn't critically low.
  • The firmware on your Fitbit device is up to date as described in How do I update my Fitbit device?

If your device still won't sync, try these steps:

  1. Force quit the Fitbit app. For instructions see the Apple help article.
  2. Go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth off and back on.
  3. Open the Fitbit app.
  4. If your Fitbit device didn't sync, restart your iPhone or iPad. For instructions see the Apple help article.
  5. Open the Fitbit app.
  6. If your Fitbit device didn't sync, restart it. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
  7. If your Fitbit device won't sync after the restart, log in to your Fitbit account on a different phone, tablet, or computer and try to sync.
  8. If your Fitbit device still doesn’t sync, remove all other Fitbit devices from your account and from the list of connected Bluetooth devices on your iPhone or iPad and try to sync

Let me know if this helped you.

I'm having this same issue. I set up the fitbit on my ipad, and 24hours later it was saying it couldn't find the device. I uninstalled the app, removed the fitbit and am now trying to set this up again. It sits on the searching page and does not connect. Help!

Try pressing and holding the button on the Fitbit for 5 secs - this worked for us, but having ongoing issues with sync

Same issue. Won't sync. Restarting wiped my stats.

Had it for 24 hours, and now I'm returning it!

Can't blame you.  The only time mine syncs is when I go into the app and wait about 10 minutes.  Real pain.

I was having this same issue and then realized I needed to re-login to the app on my phone (I didn't get a popup notification that I needed to do this). When I did that, everything synced!

Yeah, this is outrageous. I've tried everything to sync this thing. I've spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to make it do what it's supposed to easily do. The date is wrong, the time is wrong, the steps are wrong. I woke this morning and had over 7000 steps before I even got out of bed. I've deleted the app, added the app, turned Bluetooth off, turned Bluetooth on, checked the battery, pressed and held, checked for updates, etc.

It irritates me even more to go online and find a ton of other people with the exact same problem and no solution. How about not prematurely releasing products until all the bugs are fixed? I was really excited to get this for Christmas. But it's going back. I'm done.

Thankyou
i will try that

I've got the Inspire HR. Last night it stopped syncing just before midnight. I tried restarting the device, repeatedly. I turned bluetooth on my phone on and off, several times. I restarted my phone. Nothing worked.

Eventually I saw on here someone had been logged out of their app without any notification that it had logged their account out. Now, I hadn't been logged out, but I did try logging out and in again in settings. That seems to have fixed the problem! That comment was added a couple of weeks ago by another user, and a good 6 months after the first person complained about this issue.

This is a ridiculous problem that shouldn't happen. It absolutely should not be happening 6 months after it's been reported as a bug (and probably more, I doubt this was the first person to say anything). What's worse, is there's no one here from Fitbit even suggesting we try logging out and in (despite nothing indicating that would be the reason a device won't sync when the app is telling us everything else is fine). A lot of people are having syncing issues, and this might not be everyone's solution, but it's something that isn't even suggested. Instead the reply from a "fitbit moderator" (is this literally just a forum moderator? why aren't there support staff on the help forum??) is telling someone who had previously been syncing just fine to make sure their phone/computer/iPad is compatible? What? Obviously it is when it was working a few hours ago. Give us useful replies in the help forums, and pay attention to the fact lots of us are having the same problem. And fix it. We've all paid a significant amount of money for these things, we deserve not to have to deal with basic problems with the app, and we deserve to have actual help with what problems there are.

I have the fitbit (Inspire HR, Windows10 app) a couple of weeks now. It has synced ONCE, on Jan 13. Since then, it is impossible. I turned off all Bluetooth on phones; stopped and started bluetooth on Windows10; reset the fitbit. Still failed. The whole thing is hopeless. I bought it on Amazon, and am very close to returning it. Or dumping it in the nearest lake!

To add to the above. Windows10 shows Inspire HR as 'Paired'. So there is some connection to the Fitbit. Still no Sync, though.

I would probably return it. My Inspire will synch about about 10 minutes. If I want to see my Fitbit friends, I go onto my new iPad, hit the Fitbit icon, notice that my current steps (as well as the few previous days) all say 0 steps.....then I wait about 10 minutes for the device to synch and, finally, I can see how I’m doing compared to my Fitbit friends. I’ve had various Fitbits for 6 years and the quality keeps going down. I never had these issues before. Probably time to check out some competitors.

My one plus 6 Android phone, which is running  Android 10, can't seem to connect to my new Fitbit Inspire even though I have more than 60% battery life left on my phone and I have the GPS enabled on my phone which seems to be a requirement. As a result I cannot complete the setup.

Later on today I'll try to get this device to connect to my Ubuntu laptop.

I'll continue to try things for a day or two, but if I can't get it connected then I'll return the device for full refund.

Still never syncs. How do I know if the fitbit has connected to something else. The App keeps telling me to reset. How? Pressing button for 10 seconds does nothing.

Whole thing is a shambles.

Windows10 shows device 'paired'.

Sorry....I wish I could be helpful but my Inspire never syncs unless I manually sync it in my app...even then, it usually takes about 10 minutes every day.  Maybe longer.  I used to love Fitbit....no longer!

I deleted the Fitbit app, made sure that my phone was not trying to sync (but bluetooth on), and went thru the install steps again.  This worked for me.

Can you possibly make a product that works as designed?  Considering the price of these fitbits, I have yet to have one that works properly.

I’ve gone through these steps multiple times and it’s still not syncing.

Same problem!  My fitbit synced perfectly for one year with my iphone.  3 days ago that came to a screeching halt.  I've done absolutely everything mentioned here and on google with no luck.  I wiped everything clean and reinstalled..  nope!   The only thing I haven't done that's mentioned here is to log off and log back on.  I don't know how to do that, but I suppose I've already done it by wiping clean and reinstalling the app.  This is my 3rd fitbit.  No more for me!  It should last more than a year!
