Inspire erroneously adding steps

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

For the last week, my fitbit has been adding 4000- some steps in a 15 minute period every morning shortly after I get up. There's nothing I'm doing that can account for this many steps, especially in such a short amount of time. So all of my stats for the week are thrown off. So annoying.

Hi @Jojochet, welcome to the Community Forums.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, I understand how frustrating this matter can be for you. To further investigate, can you please let me know when was the first time you experienced this issue and how many times since then? Only the step count is being affected or other stats as well? I recommend you to restart your Inspire and then delete the steps that were erroneously added in your account following the steps that are specified on: How do I add, edit, or delete Fitbit data and activities? and let me know if the issue persists.

Looking forward to your reply.

Yesterday and today I have had the same problem with my Inspire. About 3000 steps are added at about 10:a.m. while sitting and not using my wrist. I have tried clearing data, resetting etc.  Finally in frustration I deleted my account and created a new one with a different email address.  It added 3000+ steps immediately.  I have only had my device for 3 weeks and up until yesterday it worked perfectly. All other data is correct. The app is not reflecting data from any other app.  My Noom app automatically enters steps from Fitbit but not vice versa. Would appreciate any information as I am now very disappointed with my Inspire.  Why would this suddenly happen after it was working so well?

Mine actually stopped doing it after about 5 days...SO FAR!

I returned mine today as it had stopped displaying sleep and water data even though they were displayed on my phone. I want to give the Inspire a chance so I got a new one. We’ll see if it starts to act up like the first one.  Hope springs eternal!

Ricardo, mine just did this yesterday morning (while I was sleeping), however it shows on my activity bar chart, but not as an activity in history...so random.  I tried to follow the steps to delete, but since it is not in Activity history, only on the bar chart, it won't give me the option to delete...

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @Prdesignermom.

Thank you for joining the thread and sharing the details of the issue you're experiencing. I appreciate your efforts to resolve this and for providing a screenshot. I recommend confirming if you have MobileTrack paired to your Fitbit account. MobileTrack lets you use the Fitbit app without a Fitbit device by using your phone's sensors to track basic activity data including steps, distance, and calories burned. For more information, see How do I use Fitbit MobileTrack? MobileTrack may add extra steps and I recommend removing it from your Fitbit account if you're not using it: How do I remove a Fitbit device from my account?

Hope this helps.
