Hello @Mrmet86 thanks for joining the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board.
I appreciate your participation in the Forums and for sharing your experience with us. I have moved your post from the iOS board to the Inspire board as this situation is related to the device and not the app itself. Please note that your device has been tested against driving and riding in buses, trains, and other public transportation and shouldn’t add steps when you’re traveling under normal conditions.
On bumpy roads or in a car with a stiff transmission your device may add some steps. For most customers, the number of extra steps added when driving isn’t significant when compared to your overall stats. If you want to remove the steps from your daily total, manually log the driving activity for the time you were in a vehicle. For more information see How do I edit or delete Fitbit data and activities?
Thanks for your patience and understanding, if there's anything else we can do for you, please feel free to reply.
Best AnswerMy inspire does this too, I have only had it 2 days, in a 2hour trip - 120 miles, it added 2500 steps! And I drive an automatic vehicle. Could you escalate this to your developers please?
Mine counts steps with very little movement and while I’m driving which I do for my job so a 3 hr day of driving and I’ve made 5000 steps!!! It’s way too sensitive, can the sensitivity be reset

@Mrmet86 I'm sorry to hear you'll be returning your Inspire however I understand your reasons. We're constantly striving to improve Fitbit products and services, and we very much appreciate all of the input we receive from our customers.
@TheITYogi and @Nancygizen thanks for taking the time to report this situation. At this moment, I would like to ask you to restart your Inspire following these steps:
Then, the next time you're about to drive, please wear your device on your other wrist and let us know if the accuracy improves.
Thanks for your patience and understanding, in case you need anything else, please feel free to reply.
Best Answer5 hour drive and my inspire hr logged over 5300 steps. Cleary this thing is broken.
Googlefit on my phone logged 0.
Your device should know the difference since it's basically your number 1 selling point.
Pretty disappointed.
Hello!
My fitbit inspire HR counts steps while driving in my car and/or riding a bycicle. This is really absurd indeed. If I had not already thrown out the packaging, i would have sent it back! Now I feel a little stuck with a tracker that is not tracking what I want... my steps. Any help possible here?
I have had my fitbit inspire hr for a week now and same issues. Went through all the help suggestions with tech support and nothing worked. My cheap $30 tracker does not track steps in my car, neither does my $10 pedometer. Finally Fitbit suggested I send back for a replacement but what is the point if you are not fixing the issue? Please create an update for this. I hate to have to return this and find something else.
I'm returning mine.
Today it logged 10,000 steps by the days end due to driving.
GoogleFit didn't log any steps.
Complete fail.
Bye fitbit, I thought you guys were the leader of this tech.

Moderator Edit: Clarified Subject.
I drive at the track and would love my Inspire to log the exercise as its a mighty sweaty workout. Since Inspire has GPS (just upgraded from an Alta HR) can it not realise you are clearly moving too fast to be walking (or even cycling)?
Best AnswerI wore my fitbit inspire 2, today while driving a bus. What a joke! It counted almost 5000 steps while I drove. Ridiculous. I told my hubby yesterday it doesn't count correctly.
The other night it counted steps while I slept. Greatly disappointed.
Not sure about driving, but I can gain a mile run just by playing a fast moving classical piece on my piano.
Best AnswerMay 2023. Found this thread while searching for a solution to my Inspire 2 counting steps while driving. Looks like I'll be sending mine back, although Samsung are offering £100 trade in for any Fitbit against their watches so...
