I have a new Inspire and everything was fine for 12 days and then the sleep tracker stopped working. I changed the sensitivity to normal as this seemed to work for another user but still nothing. Any ideas?

Nothing worked to fix this. I contacted fitbit through my amazon purchase and it was replaced.

Is your replacement working now, @HankBuck? Have you got the firmware update on it 'cos it took a while to work after it was installed on mine, but it's working fine again now. Sometimes you just have to tut, shake your head and be patient with your Inspire IME.

I replaced my Alta just over a month ago with the Inspire so I could wear on a clip rather than wrist. I set it up to wear on a clip (replaced Alta app with Inspire on my Samsung phone). The sleep tracked for a few weeks then just stopped. I reset, nothing; I switched back to bracelet on wrist, nothing; I changed from 'normal' to 'sensitive', nothing. I am having to enter my sleep manually and as another person wrote, that doesn't track my sleep pattern, just the hours. I wear my Inspire 24/7 except when I shower. Habit of not having a waterproof tracker (Alta) it's just something I continue to do. My Inspire is tracking everything I have it set to do except sleep. As I said, I've read other people's issues and your responses and I am doing nothing that should cause this. I never allow my Inspire to fall below 75-80% before I recharge so my issue isn't a low battery. I've even charged it back to 100% not long before bedtime hoping that might work but it didn't. Please help!

How new and new-to-you is your Inspire? When I very first got mine almost a year ago it was brand new but didn't automatically log most things for at least a couple of weeks. I decided to give it one month before I sent it back to Amazon for a refund.
After a couple of weeks it began logging things but a bit hit-and-miss about what it logged and when. It took about a month to six weeks for it to start giving me reliable data and literally the only time I took it off was to charge it up.
If your Inspire is new as well as new-to-you then it may still be getting used to you and what your body does, when. Give it a couple of months to get used to you and your body and try not to get too frustrated with it - when it's used to you and your body it's wonderful and I couldn't be without mine now... just try to be patient with it for a little while first - it's annoying but sooo worth it!

I bought it from Fitbit when they recently ran their "back to school" sales. I replaced my Alta app on my Samsung phone with the Inspire app. It worked and for several weeks everything tracked as it should. After a couple of weeks the tracking of sleep suddenly stopped recording. Other than wearing it in the pool, I had done absolutely nothing that should have caused the Inspire to suddenly stop tracking my sleep. The two most important features of a tracker for me is my daily steps and my sleep.

I'm guessing you had the major firmware update when it suddenly stopped tracking things for you... I think I remember several people (including me) having issues with our Inspires after that and I'm thinking that Fitbit lost a few customers because of it too.
Have you tried restarting it by pressing and holding the button for 5 seconds to see if that fixes things for you? Give it a couple of days to see if it starts tracking your sleep again, but if not, try pressing and holding the button for 15 seconds to see if that works after a couple of days. If not, contact Fitbit online via their chat thingy to see if they've got any other ideas?
It really is worth it when you get it working and logging things for you... you just have to be patient for a while though 😉

I did try the 5 second reset but that didn't work either. I have not tried the 15 second reset but will try that. I have been manually logging my sleep but will stop doing that to see if it will decide to start tracking again. I have worn it both on clip and wrist but still not tracking sleep. I'm really unhappy that it's stopped tracking. I started out years ago with the One and when it finally died, my daughter gave me her Alta which I wore a couple years before it too died, just about the time Fitbit had the 'back to school' sale in August on the Inspire and Inspire HR. I did not need the function difference to purchase the HR as the regular Inspire was all I needed. I was thrilled that it could be worn on a clip, which I also ordered. This is my first experience in all these years of having a Fitbit drop tracking my sleep.

Ah right, didn't realise you were logging your sleep manually... that seems to over-ride the automatic sleep tracking, or at least it did for me! Don't manually log your sleep and after a week or 10 days you will hopefully find that it starts tracking again. It means that you won't have any record for those days (unless you do it outside of your Inspire in a spreadsheet or whatever) but it will hopefully start tracking automatically again after that.
I don't manually log anything (other than liquid and food) anymore and it's been fine for me ever since I stopped with all the manual logging. It's annoying and frustrating, but the less you log manually, the better it works 😉

Just a little more info. Fitbit shipped my Inspire on August 10 and set up was done within a day of receiving, which I don't remember that date. Everything tracked as it should until Sept. 6 when sleep stopped tracking. I manually input sleep for the next several days but stopped on Sept. 12 so I will do as you suggest and give it up to 10 days to resume tracking. If it doesn't start back within 10 days, I am thinking I need to contact someone at Fitbit concerning a replacement as there is nothing else to try. I will report back in a week or so.

Might take a bit longer than 10 days, but don't give up too soon and don't manually log anything while you're waiting... I couldn't be without my Inspire now!

So it's been two weeks today since I discontinued manually logging my sleep and my Inspire continues to not track my sleep. I think after two full weeks, if it ever was going to resume tracking, it would have by now. Tomorrow I will contact Fitbit management about replacing my 'new' Inspire as tracking my sleep is as important to me as tracking my steps, etc.

Can't remember if someone has already suggested this or if you've already tried it, @Sky_-ler, but have a look in your Inspire's settings (the device as opposed to the app or online) to see if it's set to "On Clip" or "On Wrist" and change it to "On Wrist" as well as wearing it while you're asleep to see if it works for you then. I tried that on mine purely out of desperation on Monday morning because it wasn't automatically logging anything for me even though I hadn't changed anything that I could remember. By Tuesday morning everything was logging beautifully again. Maybe try that now and give it a couple more days to see if it works for you too?

I don't know how to do what you suggest, setting to "on wrist" if it's "on clip". I switch between wrist and clip on when I do water aerobics as I can't swim and fear wearing on wrist should band come loose, it fall to bottom of pool and I can't retrieve. All other times, I wear it on my wrist. I was doing the same during the couple of weeks Inspire was tracking my sleep before it stopped so not sure this is the cause of issue. It continues to track everything else without issue.

Just checked my Inspire settings on line and found it's set for "wrist" non dominant.

You need to do this on your actual device. Press the button on the side to turn the screen on, then swipe down from the top until you see the cog, tap on that and see what it says in there. Ignore the online dashboard and app just temporarily, I had to do it on my actual device - my online and app stuff were set up properly, which is why it took so long to finally fix the sleep tracking on my device.
Edit - Also, do you dry your Inspire off when it gets wet and do you use it while you're in the pool? If you don't dry it off and/or use it while you're in the pool then it might be water damage that has caused your Inspire to act up? I wear mine in the bath but don't use it until I get out and thoroughly dry it off

Okay, set it to wrist on device so I'll see what happens while I sleep tonight. No, I do not use in while in pool and when I get out, I dry the device and inside of clip before using.

That worked. It recorded last night. Thanks for the info on setting "wrist" on the device. I'm so glad I don't have to return it for not tracking! Fingers crossed it continues. 🙂

No problemo, @Sky_-ler! If I hadn't just done it for myself I would never have known to suggest it to you. Glad it's working for you now though.
