I am using an elliptical machine, my arms are moving as well as my feet. It won't track any steps and I am at a loss as to why. I use my inspire to help motivate me by tacking my diet, steps, and everything else so that I can see results even if weight loss is slow. It is completely frustrating that it will count my steps doing daily activities but not when exercising. Many times, it also take over an hour to sync.
Am I doing something wrong? Is my Inspire not working correctly? Should I have opted for something more expensive? It was my first one and I did not want to spend a lot without knowing how I would like it.

@Crisis Welcome to the Community.
Sorry to hear that your Fitbit Inspire isn't counting steps while using the elliptical machine and its difficulty when syncing. Are you using your tracker on your arm or with the belt clip? Your device will detect the movement on your arm and translate that movement into steps. There are situations in which your arm may be still but you could be moving or walking. This may happen when you are pushing a cart or holding bars while walking or using a treadmill. For added sensitivity you can try wearing your device on your dominant hand but select that hand as non dominant on the device’s settings to make it more sensitive to movement. Also make sure your hands are moving so the device can properly track your steps.
Regarding the syncing issues you can try the following:
