Move alerts - Inspire HR

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Fitbit move alerts (telling me to get up and move 10 minutes before the hour) work only sometimes. About 50% of the time they work great, the other 50% of the time I won’t get any alert. All other alerts for text messages, calls, etc. work just fine. I’ve checked all my settings, reset my Fitbit several times, updated it, updated my phone... I am stumped.

Hi, @jmika19 , if you have already taken at least 250 steps in the hour you will not receive an alert at ten minutes to the hour, even if you have not moved for quite some time.  That is just the way it is designed, so it is likely that there is nothing wrong with your settings.

I hope this helps.  Welcome to the forums!

Hi Julia, thanks so much for your reply; but the problem is I am only sometimes receiving move alerts when I SHOULD be receiving them. For example, when I check in with my Fitbit app to check on my hourly steps, I am not hitting my 250 step hourly goals and I receive no alerts (about 50% of the time) Sometimes I’ll receive alerts and other times I won’t; I’m specifically talking about when I should be receiving them. I hope this makes sense...

So you are nit receiving alerts when you have been stationary for the whole hour and definitely not taken any steps?  Because what I am saying is, supposing your Fitbit detects 250 steps at 11:01 - maybe you went to the fridge and got some milk for a cup of tea... and then you sat down and didn’t move the whole rest of the hour... You will not get an alert because you did take 250 steps that hour.

I am pretty sure that that is what you are experiencing.  I know it seems odd, but thst is just how it is designed.

Hi Julia, I understand how it is designed, and I think it’s great how they did it, but you are correct in your first part of your reply: I am not receiving alerts when I have been stationary for the whole hour and definitely not taken any steps. But, only sometimes. It work great for about 3 hours of the day and the other hours, I get no alerts to move when I have definitely not met my step goal for that hour. I can see haven’t met my hourly goal through the app after the day is done.

Side note, thank you for replying to my questions! 🙂

Well, I could see that would be disappointing @jmika19 , especially if not getting the reminders means you are missing your daily goal.

Since your Inspire vibrates normally otherwise, it sounds like a software issue rather than your Fitbit malfunctioning.  I have not seen others report this, and I have checked that it is not currently listed as a “known” issue.

The only thing I can suggest in this case is that you delete your Fitbit app completely (make sure you remember your log in email and password!) and then redownload it.  That will make sure you have the most up to date version without any corruption creeping in.  Please let us know if that helps...

If the problem persosts keep an eye on the Community and see if others are reporting this.
