Solved bluetooth connection problem with Samsung Galaxy S8

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

For a few days, I couldn't get my phone to pair with my Fitbit Inspire HR. I tried all of the recommendations on the Fitbit Help Forum and in the end, I managed to make it work but I'm not sure which of the things I did actually helped.

These are the steps I took, which made it work again. Maybe this could be helpful for someone who has the same issue.

  1. I uninstalled the app
  2. Unpaired all the devices from my phone in the bluetooth settings
  3. Turned off bluetooth
  4. Restarted my phone
  5. Rebooted my Fitbit Inspire HR
  6. Reinstalled the Fitbit app
  7. Logged in and allowed the app to access everything (location, bluetooth, ...)

That's when it paired and started syncing as usual. 🙂

@CoralineV , thanks for your post!  I am glad you got your Inspire syncing again, amd hopefully your post will help someone else experiencing the same issue.

One thing I always try to remind users if they are having this problem - it can be very helpful, as you say, to remove your Fitbit from the Bluetooth settings on your phone, but please do NOT remove it from your Fitbit account!  That can create extra problems.

Instead of removing it from your account, you can always follow the instructions to set it up as a replacement device: go to the account section on the fitbit app, choose set up a Fitbit and then choose the Fitbit device.  A pop up will say “You already have X device connected to your account; do you want to replace it?  Say “yes” and continue.

If the replacement set up is successful, it should force a sync.

Iam trying to set up my new Inspire fitbit but when I follow the step to connect to bluetooth it can't pair. I have switched the bluetooth connection on my phone off and back on as advised. I have a samsung s8. My partner has an iphone and is able to connect to bluetooth via the fitbit app. So it is not a problem with the fitbit.

Any tips on how to resolve this as I want to set up my fitbit on my own phone via the app

I just got my fitbit inspira HR and I just spent nearly 3 hours trying to connect it to my S8.

This is so frustrating! I was about to give up (like this should not be difficult!) and it finally connected.

Here's what worked:

1. Uninstall fitbit app.

2. Restart phone.

3. Restart fitbit by putting it on charger and holding button down for 10 secs.

4. Go to bluetooth settings and connect to fitbit.

It took many tries of following these steps and it finally connected.

I am now waiting for the setup to complete.

So far, I'm not happy with this device, I just kept trying because I hate sending things back..

Keeping my fingers crossed.

Hey ya'll, my Inspire also wouldn't pair with my Samsung s8.

I did the typical: attempt to manually connect through my phone's bluetooth; restarted phone; tried set up again; tried manual bluetooth again; uninstalled app; restarted phone; restarted Inspire; tried manual bluetooth again; restarted phone; reinstalled app; tried install again .... all to no avail.

But then it occurred to me that while the box says Fitbit Inspire, the bluetooth listing on my phone says Fitbit Inspire HR. SO I uninstalled the app AGAIN. Restarted phone and fitbit. Reinstalled app AGAIN. And went to set up a device and selected Inspire HR. This time it paired. So. Yay.

FYI, the setup completed and my watch has been working since.

No issues.
