In recent weeks, my Inspire counts steps as I'm walking and then backs them off - like penalizing me for too many steps. Any ideas?

Welcome to the community forums @rolee.
Thank you for providing the information regarding your Inspire 2.
Please confirm if you are using Mobile track. It is a service that allows you to count steps using your phone even if you forget to wear your Fitbit. If that is your case, Mobile track will add the steps recorded by your phone to the Fitbit app. You can "unpair" Mobile Track from your account. On your Fitbit app go to the upper left corner, on the phone and device icon. Click on your phone icon and on the 3 dots and choose "unpair".

Moving through your recommended steps, I ended up on a page on my IPhone 16 that shows a "phone" with the FitBit icon that says "connected to a different device". It then says "Start tracking activity from this phone?" with an option to continue.
Near bottom of this page, it says "Disconnect Device".
How do I proceed?
