Alexa does not work unless the Fitbit App is open

Versa2 Doesn't connect to Alexa unless I have Fitbit App open on my phone. I have it checked to let it run in the background but this does not work. It has to be open. 

I tried to chat with support and they tell me we exhausted all options someone will get back to me. No one ever did. 

What is the point I may as well just use my phone to do what I need.

I can't even find the Alexa in the Fitbit app on my phone (Android). I can't even access it.

Same. And the "find my phone" app is the same.  As if the "run in background" setting no longer works.  This happened with their last update.

I was supposed to get an email about this month's ago.  Tech support doesn't care.

Once I set the Fitbit app to run in the background, the "find my phone" is working for me but not Alexa. There's no point in having Alexa if I need to open Fitbit app.
