Alexa or Microphone?

For the last few days I have been asking Alexa via Fitbit to add things to my shopping list or set a timer. I thought it was me just not being clear.

Today, asking her to do anything gets no response or some nonsense. If I ask her to set a timer for 3min she tells me how to boil an egg. If I ask her to add something to my Shopping list she tells me how to make a shopping list..... So she is hearing me (kinda) but not doing what I need her to?

Is this an Amazon / Alexa issue or microphone ????

Worked fine until a day or two ago.... Language is UK... I've turned it on and off again... 😉

I would open the Alexa App on your phone. 

Tap the hamburger menu, then activity. 

You will see a list of everything you have asked Alexa.

Nothing, she is hearing nothing from the watch.

I can press the button, ask a question, she is Thinking, then just keeps saying ask me anything...

I think this maybe a mic issue. I have to hold my watch close to my face before she even hears anything.

Amazon replaced my FitBit Versa 2. The new one has the exact same problem so I'll have to assume either:

1) This is a server/software/firmware issue, or;

2) This new versa is broken out of the box.

Let's see

• Hold button in and Alexa says Listening not Connection lost. 
• You don't get an Internet error. 
• When you stop talking does Alexa Stop Listening, or does Alexa stop listening before you stop talking? 
• Do you get any message response, like I don't understand as a reply? 
• Does the Try asking Alexa screen pop up?

OK it's quite weird! She seems hard of hearing, but remember this is a brand new out of the box, which has the same behaviour as my previous and she is picking up on key words.

Few things. Language = English. Alexa is installed on shortcut button. So here are two examples and what happens. 

For all purposes she is working as normal but she is stubborn. 

1) Press and hold button.

2) Listening is displayed.

3) I ask her to "set a timer for 3 minutes".

4) Voice response bars are seen.

5) Thinking is displayed.

6) Response: How to make a soft boiled egg by boiling it for 3 minutes.

1) Press and hold button.

2) Listening is displayed.

3) I ask her to "add mushrooms to my shopping list".

4) Voice response bars are seen.

5) Thinking is displayed.

6) Response: How to make a shopping list (the pen and paper kind).

1) Press and hold button.

2) Listening is displayed.

3) I ask her to "how do you spell temperature".

4) Voice response bars are seen.

5) Thinking is displayed.

6) Response: How to increase body temperature.

... interesting point here is if I ask just "spell temperature" I get nothing other than the "Hi, ask me anything!" message

OK.

Now working.

I have logged out of the Amazon account before and logged back in several times and it still would not work. 

I removed any skills in the Alexa App that were not smart home etc, so things like WikiHow.

Logged out from my Amazon account on the FitBit watch. Logged in.... would not work. Logged out. Logged in. Now she is understanding the commands given and they are showing up in the Alexa App under Activity.

Is this me or the servers??? Who knows lol.
