Just finished fully setting up my fitbit versa 2. My Alexa account is fully set up and everything is synched fine but when I ask Alexa anything the message "unsupported request sorry this isn't supported on this device" appears on the screen. I was initially trying figure out how to start a workout through Alexa but now it wont even answer to a simple question as "set time or 3 seconds" anyone know how to fix this?

The same thing happened to me and I held the button down for like five or six seconds until it shut down to restart and then once it came back up Alexa was working again. Hope you were able to figure it out, I know this post was a while back.

@SunsetRunner Did you set up Alexa via mobile app or browser? I know there were some issues with browsers.

@SunsetRunner Where are you located? Not all countries support voice control.

California.  It was working fine then all of a sudden it stopped

Set time for 3 seconds yes would be unsupported.

Hold the button on the Versa 2 for a few seconds and say "Set Timer for 3 seconds". Note that I used the word tImer, not time.

Other phrases to try

Set an alarm for 6am

What time is it?

What time does the sun set?

When is the next fill moon?

Ask Fitbit to start a walk

What is the weather today? - tomorrow?

That was a typo. I've asked it to "set the timer for 3 seconds", I've asked it "what time is it?" Still get the same "unsupported request " response

@SunsetRunner So it was working fine before? But you just mentioned that you had finished setting it up. Does it mean you have performed a factory reset?

I just purchased the device.  After I finished setting it up, I tried to use the alexa feature a few hours later and that's when I encountered the problem

@SunsetRunner At this point I would try performing a factory reset (restoring versa to factory defaults). I would also try uninstalling and re-installing the app again. Before factory reset, make sure you have deleted versa your phone's Bluetooth settings (not Fitbit app). To perform factory reset, open settings app on you Versa and scroll down to About. Tap it and choose factory reset. This will wipe all data from your tracker so it would be good if you could sync it first. After factory reset you will need to set up your versa again by adding a replacement device in your Fitbit mobile app. You can set up the watch back to the Fitbit account by following the instructions on this link: How do I set up my Fitbit device?

If you're not successful with the factory reset, I am afraid you will need to reach out to Customer Support to guide you through the next steps. Here's the link to Customer Support page.

@Marrrmaduke, thank you so much--this worked for me!  My microphone seemed to be working as the Fitbit Alexa did say, "thinking..." after I said something, "set timer" or whatever.  But, Alexa would keep saying, "Ask again sorry, didn't get your request."  What worked for me was:

1.  Be sure you sync your Fitbit with your phone app first before you wipe any data.

2.  Uninstall the Fitbit app from your phone.

3.  Re-install the Fitbit app and re-activate Alexa with your Amazon account.  My Alexa worked again on my Fitbit Versa 2.
