Anyone else having difficulty switching bands?

I have the SE version. I have no problem getting the woven band off and on. I get one of the silicone sides on no problem. The other side? The pin keeps popping out. (Yes, it’s angled, pin pressed down, I’m aware of the ridges...) I’m about to give up. Bands shouldn’t be this difficult to switch out.

Anyone else experiencing issues it is it just me? I’m wondering if it’s my Versa. Especially since I’m only having difficulty on one side. (Always the same. )

Finally, after several hours of internet perusing, I figured it out. Hold the band at 45 degrees, as the band is not designed to turn. This is the only angle at which you can insert the band.

I have the same issue. I have been on chat with two agents and on the phone with a third trying to explain that the classic band is too wide and doesn’t fit. I even sent a picture showing it against the woven band to show the difference. They won’t send me a replacement band that fits. They even wanted me to ship my whole device back to them at my expense!  It’s not the device, it’s just the classic band that’s the problem!  No customer should ever have to ship anything back at their expense!  Nor should they have to go without a device they paid over $200 for without having a replacement in their hands. All I want is a classic band that fits!  Why is that so difficult?  Shame on you Fitbit for not standing by your product. After years of being a customer, I’m seriously considering switching to a different product altogether.

Read thru this post - I had the same problem and then found the secret - the band fits fine if you place the Fitbit face down - then insert one end of the pin of the wrist band - however the SECRET is to make sure the band is being inserted at about a 45 degree angle up from horizontal - for example the Fitbit should be face down on a table - the band should not be horizontal or vertical to the table but elevate the end up by 45 degrees - when I did this it easily snapped right in - good luck!

Thank you for the advice NavySeaDog. I had read all the other comments and tried that with this band to no avail sadly.  My husband and the nice folks at Best Buy tried too. I finally got a supervisor on the phone and after much frustration with the three previous agents, he was very kind and understanding and is sending me a replacement.  I offered to return this one if they can send me a return label with the replacement. That’s all I wanted in the first place.  I will try this trick with it when it arrives. Fingers crossed!

Got one a couple of days ago and had the same trouble changing the bands. Stumbled on this and found that you need to insert the bands at a 45 degree angle, and it worked. Still, kind of a pain. My Charge 2 — may it rest in peace — was easy to change. So that definitely adds to the mixed feelings so far.

For me I can't get the original gray FitBit band to go back on my FitBit Versa Lite.... all the other 3rd party bands go on and off easilly.  Very frusting that the FitBit brand band WON'T work.  It appears the gray silicone/rubber part of the band is too wide and I'm guessing I need 3 hands to put it on? Frustrating experience.

Took the band out on one side easy...trying to get it back ...a bloody nightmare.   Husband tried I tried...it is the side with the holes in it...not the buckle side.   No idea what to do..may take it back where I bought it and see if someone there can do it...we cant

I am having issues with the band with the buckle. So frustrating. We ordered off-brand bands. Guess that is the issue.

I am piling on because changing the band on the Versa 2 cost me one hour and a bloody finger.  No, I mean it, I am bleeding from under my thumbnail from pressing the band in.  This is the Worst design possible.  It is bad enough with a traditional watch that uses pins, but it is made worse because the Fitbit band designed for the Versa is slightly too big to slide into the aperture and so the pin won't go in. It took two of us to finally get it in, one to hold the watch steady and one to compress the spring and force the band into place.  We switched out of an Alta to go to the Versa.  If I had known about this problem with the band, I would have gone to the Apple watch or retained the Alta.

The Fitbit band was the WORST.  Hardest to get on.

I totally agree...I tried so many times, husband gave up after numerous tries....in desperation I asked one of the girls in my exercise class....she had it done in under a minute.

Dont follow the instructions on how to do it. What she did was HOLD THE PINS IN TOGETHER AND THEN PUT IN ...she did it that fast I did not see it actually work. As you have said it is impossible to get one pin in and then attempt to put the other one in...it just does not work.

Hope this helps

I found that placing it on the table, lining it all up and then using a small knife to push the outer tube of the spring into place worked. Fiddley but did work quickly

Exactly!  I have had several Fitbit watches since they first came out and it was easy to switch bands on all of them.

I also bought three extra bands for my Versa 2 SE.  Watched a video about how to change the band and injured my fingers attempting to switch bands.  Had to take the watch to a jeweller and pay to the bands put back on. So very disappointed in this band design.

The watch is beautiful.  Who knew the band would be so difficult to change?

I believe it is a Fitbit problem as I bought three Fitbit bands for my Versa 2SE and it is too difficult to change them.  I injured my fingers attempting to do it!

Oooh the memory of trying to replace a fitbit band...was a nightmare...both my husband and self tried.. our fingers could not do it....showed to a friend and before I had even finished telling her the whole story of trying to fit it...she had done it with 30 seconds. Dont ask me how she did it but I know where to go next time LOL...good luck!
