I had a few versas previously and had terrible trouble with the battery life which Fitbit tried to address but then only offered me some money off a new one so I plumped for a versa 2. Low and behold I have gone from a watch that holds its battery as you would expect to one that literally needs charging every few days. I have tried everything from before and I think I am just ready to give up on the Fitbit brand and cancel my subscription and look elsewhere.

How are you charging it?
Please clean the contacts
Then Do a Restart
Also See this thread for charging best practices. If you are not charging it correctly you could be damaging the battery

"Every few days" - what is the battery level after three days? If it is above 40 percent then that is still a five day battery life, which isn't that shabby.
Not that @WendyB 's reading recommendations aren't valid, but may I suggest doing what I do? I charge my device e-v-e-r-y day while taking my before dinner shower when it is between 82 and 88 percent charged (a 5 - 8 day burn rate) - the difference is if I have performed interval training with the attendant vibrations or have received a larger amount of text/email notifications and their vibrations.
It is not that difficult to get into the routine of charging it every day and the device is at 99 to 100 percent charged when I am finished with my shower, dressed and have poured a glass of wine.
And charging daily isn't an issue for lithium-polymer batteries, unlike the older nickel-cadmium batteries and their "memory mapping" issues.

I am using the charger that came with it, always have done. I charge fully when the battery goes lower. I have to be honest I don’t think I can do any more to charge ‘correctly’. Given this is a repeat of what I had with my versa before this I suspect it has more to do with the product itself.

After one day it loses 25%, second at a further 25% and then it just drops. Cannot go more than two nights.

Shouldn’t need to charge that often. I’m also fed up with poor battery life. Why can’t Fitbit just put a tiny battery in like all normal watches?

One more thing to try and it sometimes does help - at least to two other board members that I recommended it to.
Sync your device.
On the device:
Go to "Settings".
Scroll all of the way down to "About" and tap it.
Scroll all of the way down past "Factory Reset" and tap on "Shutdown". Shutdown leaves personal information and apps on the device.
Answer "Yes" to "Do you want to shutdown?"
After your device shuts down, wait a few seconds and press on the button for about 5 seconds until the logo appears.
Doing the above will clear the device memory of data no longer required by the device and its applications. One of the most wasteful uses of power by a computer's CPU (and your device IS a computer) is cleaning up memory by moving unneeded information around - this is called garbage collection. By performing a shutdown, your battery usage should improve. How often you need to do so depends on the apps you use regularly and leave data "hanging around".
Something else to think about is has your recent battery usage issue occurred after the installation of new app(s) or the recent regular use of preinstalled apps?
And please consider what I call "Charge while showering".
Good luck.
