Battery suddenly lasts forever

My first Fitbit was a Versa 1. When I got it, the battery lasted about 4 days. Over the course of two years, that slowly degraded to three days before suddenly needing a charge daily. I've been pleasantly surprised by the performance of my new Versa 3. It has consistently lasted five days between charges for about half a year since I got it. Except, suddenly, in the last month or so, my battery has begun to last a loooooong time. Last night I went to bed at 21% and tonight I'm going to bed at 15%. It has been lasting 9-12 days over the past month.

"Good problem to have", you might say. Except it really shouldn't last this long. This is nearly double the advertised battery life It makes me wonder, what's my watch NOT doing that it should be doing? How is it not using battery power at nearly the rate that it should? It still tracks my heart rate, all day, every day. It's doing so seemingly accurately. That's really all I use it for - tracking my calories burned, RHR and my sleep, and all it needs for that is my heart rate readings continuously, which, according to my daily charts, it is taking.

So how on earth is it lasting 9-12 days? Should I be happy and just go on this way, or is this worthy of discussion?

Wow @seventieslord that is really interesting! No idea why it would suddenly do that. If all the features you use are working then I'd just accept it and be happy 🤣🤣

@seventieslord   Lucky you!  I don't have an explanation, but have some insight on battery longevity.  Letting your battery percentage get to 15% and below isn't good for a lithium ion polymer battery.  That is known as a "deep discharge" in the battery world.  Repeated deep discharges decrease overall battery life.  Most sites recommend recharging at 20-25%.

Hi @seventieslord  as @NellyG  says, that's interesting, and to enjoy it but agree with you it could be a sign something isn't working.

It would be interesting what it it is that is not working, for now don't make any changes though if it is meeting your needs.

If heart rate and sleep are ok and it tells the time that is the essential.
